Does anyone know why a plug (outlet) in the lanai would just 'stop' working?
Any leads for someone who would be able to help us fix this problem? Thanks!

Did you check your ground fault reset? Sometimes the humidity or amount of items on the circuit cuts the power. Check your breaker box and the ground fault on your outside plugs. Depends on your house style on which plug has the reset button on the plug.

Deb, believe me, I'm not a handy person but it happened to me a few times when I first moved into my house. Are you still under warranty? If so, call them in the morning and they will walk you through the steps with the circuit breaker and also there's a special plug in each room that has a button in it and it controls the other plugs.. GEEZE,,, I don't know what its called but I bet some one out there will tell us. Anyway, you go to that plug and press the button and it should work the disabled plug. Oh dear,,, you can tell I have no clue what I'm talking about, but I understand your frustration.

Good luck.

Thought this link would help you about GFI outlets.

And I'm not technical about it either. We recently had 3 kitchen outlets that stopped working. Neither of the 3 appeared to be "ground fault" (no button on them to push). We checked the circuit breaker box and none of them had "flipped off". We were at the point of calling an electrician when our son came to visit. He immediately started looking for a ground fault outlet and found it hidden behind a mixer between the range and refrigerator. It had "flipped off" and once he flipped it back, all outlets were working!

I'd suggest you look for the nearest ground fault outlet and try flipping that!

Good luck!

Sometimes water gets in and will trip the GFCI. We had this happen after powerwashing the house.
Usually the reset switch is in the garage, so try that first.

I agree, the GFCI may be located on one of the outlets in the garage. Don't look for logic in wiring these houses.

If there are multiple outlets/receptacles on the same GFCI-controlled circuit, the first receptacle in the circuit will be the GFCI receptacle. The wiring for all the downstream receptacles in the circuit is done such that they are controlled by that initial GFCI receptacle as well.

If something should cause a ground fault issue at any point downstream from the GFCI receptacle, it will trip and cut the power to all the receptacles in the circuit.

The GFI outlets with the trip/test button for our lanai is in the garage.
They are easy to spot as they have a red indicator light that if trip is glowing red.
Just push the button that is sticking up and it will rest.

Finally an explanation that makes sense! Thanks Bill!

This happens on our lanai, too. Our GFCI for the lanai is located in the garage on the plug next to the light switch and garage door openers. We have a Lily model so not sure where yours might be located. Good luck!

Like others, our GFI for the lania receptacles are in the garage. We are in a Bridgeport model.

An easy fix, once you find the right GFI...

Happy Hunting!

WOW! Thank YOU ALL! Hubby went to the garage and found the reset button on one of the outlets, ... it was out, and he pushed it in, to reset ...VOILA! MUCH appreciated! ( He washed the house two days ago, and because of the info given, it brought us to the conclusion that YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!!!!!! Thanks! Debi !

OK, if he washed the house on the outside, he probably got water behind the receptacles. Make sure there is adequate caulk around them to seal out water.

check your outlets in line with the GFI - it happened on ours and the circuit breaker was off due to GFI.

Looking at a new home in Fernandina, there were about six to eight GFCI circuit breakers in the panel box each with a white reset button. None of the GFCI outlets had the traditional resets on the outlet--FYI. The GFCI outlets can be very tempermental, or maybe it's just the ones made in China.
