Has anyone on this forum purchased a cottage home at Lake Sumter Landing?
Noticed that there is one fully furnished turn key cottage for sale right down in the thick of things..........Small lot; not a pool home, but adorable.
I would think it might be a good investment. Not sure.
Thinking along the lines of rental income and partial snow birding during winter months????
Thanks in advance to anyone who has looked at these or perhaps stayed in these cottages during a lifestyle visit or actually purchased one.
Obviously, it's smaller at 1,900+ feet but perhaps just right as far as upkeep.......and again, closer to everything at Lake Sumter Landing.
It's the only cottage listed under resales at the Villages website of preowned homes. I'm assuming it was a "Lifestyle Visit Rental"....thus being sold fully furnished.....with the plantation shutters, etc. Tiny lanai.
Again, thanks in advance.

I haven't looked at them, but I believe anywhere you find a good price on a home not requiring much work is a great investment and certainly those in easy distance of LSL.
I've owned rentals elsewhere for a few years so offer an opinion based on that and several visits to TV staying in rentals. Besides, with mtg rates where they are, you can't miss.

Senior, those homes are adorable, close to the square and the loud music until nine, (lol) AND more to the point, so glad to hear that you are considering snowbirding.
That makes ME happy! I so hope to meet you in person.
You have so much cooking savvy and so many interesting takes on things that there is lot I would like to hear from your lips.
I have heard of many friends buying another home here for investment.
The resales are excalating in price from a year ago.
Hope you find just the right place here for your purposes, Senior.

Thanks Gracie. Didn't think there would be loud music..........but now that you mention it, of course there would be. Probably a lot more traffic as well.
I just like Lake Sumter Landing in general........the boardwalk, the restaurants, etc. the shops and Sweetbay supermarket.........plus the Waterfront Inn for overflow guests...........
The loud music would be a negative. Thanks again.

I believe there are quite a few Cottage Homes still owned by the developer. Take a stroll and look for those without owner names out front. These are somewhat pricey but beautifully done and convenient.

Hi Senior,
We just decided to put our cyv on the market and we are in the village of Caroline which is also right by Lake Sumter but over by the Sweetbay market so the music is just a distant pleasant sound. We would like to sell it turnkey and it is adorable. I just posted some pictures under TOTV "houses for rent" if you'd like to see what it looks like. It has all new furniture and has a wonderful solar heated pool. Let me know if you'd like to see more pictures.

We stayed in one of the cottage homes in November 2010, it was lovely. It is a great location and we did consider it. I am not sure what sense of community there is though with many of the houses still used for the lifestyle visits. I am sure the people who are owning there enjoy it, but is is a small village community so you may not get the full range of activities that other neighborhoods offer. Just depends on what you are looking for. If I were going to buy there, I would knock on a few doors and talk to the people living there about their experience. You cannot beat the location, though I do think liking at the Haciendas of Mission Hills is just as wonderful and 3 1/2 minutes or so by golf cart to Lake Sumter Landing.

We stayed at creak side landing and yep short walk to the square, and on some night you could hear the music bouncing along with other noise, and we did love the house itself, but there is a small area called kingfisher with the same style house and for a lot less...looked at HH when it was in its new not even stared building, but I hate the bridge either driving in a car to cart, it was not for us

1025 COTTAGE DR
THE VILLAGES, FL 32162-1710
VLS# 211558
3 Bed 2 Bath / 1921 Sq. Ft.
$429,900

The owners live in Ft. Pierce, Florida and paid $410K for the home in 2010. So considering closing costs and the furniture, they are losing money on this home.
In April 2011 we stayed next door at 1033 Cottage Dr. for seven days on our lifestyle visit. I liked it because it was so close to everything but yet felt very seclued. I drove the cart through the village and counted 48 homes. We went to the pool several times and it felt like we had our own private pool. You won't see many people around, although I think only about half the homes had been sold.
Looking at the photos of 1025 Cottage Dr, the home next door at 1033 that we stayed was nicer and bigger and I would of bought it we could of afforded it. The music from the square was no factor, you are about 200 yards east of the sales office, probably 400 yards from the square, I speak in golf yardage. The only noise is cars going over the bridge on Morse, but that is more of a factor for homes across the street. As the previous poster wrote, you might not get the sense of community that most villages will give you, but if you like being centrally located and yet secluded, then that is perfect.

We stayed in one of the bungalows for a month to test
the lifestyle in TV. It is very near Waterfront Inn and
I loved walking to the square almost every day.
Also, great if you have one too many glasses of wine
because you can just walk home instead of driving.
I believe the bungalows are less expensive than the cottages
but you have to use the pool at creekside. It was a lovely
little community.
Good luck!!

I thought hearing the music at night would be the best part of living there.
