I will be using a National moving company to move from NJ to Fl. When you arranged your move what were the options/costs around the prick up date and the delivery date? For example, is packing in NJ on Monday, settlement in FL on Thursday and deliver of goods on Friday considered a normal deliver, or would the moving companies expect the goods to be put in storage for a day or two since they cannot deliver as soon as they get to Fl?. I do not expect to fill a truck.
I am also interested in any moving advice or experiences.
Thank you

Believe it or not we contacted a company out of The Villages Daily Sun called Sunset Express and it turned out awesome. They came to our house on Thursday and delivered our stuff in TV on Saturday morning. We gave them a list of what we wanted to move and they gave us a price over the phone/through email. They charge by the cubic foot. This is not normally how my husband and I operate, but we took and chance and it turned out great. All this guy does is move people in and out of TV going up and down the east coast (from Maine to Florida). He contracts with local people to come and help him load his truck and then contracts locally for the unloading. PM me if you want a number. We moved a king bed, a queen bed, 4 dressers, an armoire (heavy as all get out) a 72" TV with a stand, 2 book cases, a complete office suite, a large sectional sofa, 2 leather club chairs, 3 bikes, a dining table with six chairs and a few other pieces of furniture for about $2600. We did not have any boxes as this was not a complete move for us. We like them so much we will hire them again in June to help us finish the move. They go up and down the coast twice a month (middle and end).

I am also looking for interstate moving options. I will be moving to TV from NYC soon. I would love to hear about your experiences with large insured moving companies. Prices quoted, prices charged and time frame for delivery would be very helpful. THANKS!

Has anyone else used Sunset Express- good or bad? We will be moving from the tip of Cape Cod to the Villages in the spring, early summer. We will be selling most of our furniture. We are looking into options to move some furniture pieces and boxes. It seems PODS and Relocube don't service this area. We are trying to find out what options, aside from large national moving companies, exist.
Thanks!

I would strongly recommend using the Villages relocation service. They research movers with a good record in corporate moves. We got 3 prices that way, and were completely satisfied.
Count'n the days

We had our furniture loaded on a Friday and originally were given a window of delivery for the following Monday - Friday. When they arrived to load the furniture they gave us the exact day for delivery which was the latest estimated day of the following Friday. We anticipated this and rented a villa for a week. Since we closed on our home on Monday, we had a few days to rest, and take care of some other things before the furniture arrived. We used Allied and were pleased with the entire process. We moved from TX.
