I just had a holly bush planted. Does this plant need to be fertilized and if so what kind of fertilizer should I use and what time of year should it be fertilized. The guy that planted it didn't know a thing except how to dig where safe dig said he could but that's another story.

Also do they require a lot of water?

Click Here (http://www.google.com/search?q=maintaining+holly+bushes&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-Address&ie=&oe=&rlz=1I7PRFB_enUS464) for the results of such a search.

Since originally posting this message I found the following: "Scatter a handful of balanced fertilizer such as 8-8-8 or 10-10-10, referring to ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, in late spring. Sprinkle the fertilizer on the mulch and water well."

Holly bushes are very easy to grow. They require almost no attention, and grow so well, with rich green color. They are acid loving plant, that likes pine needles etc. (something like azaleas need) They grow in shade and sun. Enjoy them, and let the birds eat the berries. Makes a great bush for birds to hide also. Be careful of some leaves, that have prickers on the end. Enjoy

Why in the world would you have selected a particular plant and not have a clue as to what the requirements/care of it are? And the 'nursery' who sold it to you has done you a great dis-service by not providing that information either.
