I read that in this morning's paper and wished my dad could have lived to see these things. He was a Brewmaster, Braumeister, in Columbus, Ohio...and he had the "tongue" and I swear he could taste on which side of the hill the hops were grown.
He would have LOVED it.
I love someone's bottom of the page quote that says..
Beer is the reason we know God loves us...
or something like that. It always makes me smile.

let's hope they get enough business to survive.
Remember when there was a micro brewery in Spanish Springs? They had great beer(s) that were brewed on site. Then for a whole lot of reasons that never became public they were closed....the equipment left to "sour" and become non-useable.
Many of us beer drinkers were in shock because they did a good beer business. They even used to have a beer truck at special events on the squares...that too got eliminated.
So let's hope this one works out. It will be 100% a function of how deicated the owners are to focus on what the customers want....and not conflict with any entities owned by TV or TV family memebrs or TV past insiders....not a coincidence how some of these things work (or not).

World of Beer is not a micro brewer .... they carry an amazingly large selection of brewed beer from all over the ....... wait for it ..... World ;-) They will have a large selection from outstanding brown ale's & IPA's to Bud lite.
I will also be VERY interested in seeing if they have entertainment / bands. I have been to 4 - 5 World of Beer locations and the bands were, shall we say, ones that played music not typically associated with what is normal in TV.

The article this morning gave the size as 3,004 sq ft (50'X60'), which sounds small for a pub\restaurant\retail store. I know business' have to plan for 12 months but that doesn't sound nearly large enough for even the slowest times in TV. I'll bet NY Pizza, or Cheng's is about that size and they're both small by any measure. Maybe there's room for them to grow?

Hmmmmmmmm...... It doesn't sound very big.
From the excellent reviews I read on the internet of WOB in Miami, I would tend to think they will be crowded.
They should serve a blueberry beer that has blueberries on the bottom of the bottle.

THis seems like good news!!
But I also want the micro brewer back!!!! We were told that the issue is to obtain a license and therefore they never reopened at Spanish Springs.
I thought about starting a strike (and refuse to retire -- move to TV), until I realize it is a bad idea. May be if we start with a list of signatures?? A license should not be hard to work and yes, we loved the micro brewer, too sad they are no longer there!

There is a very good micro-brewery on Hwy 27 just before you get to the Hwy 50 turnoff in Clermont.
Yes, you sometimes do have to leave the confines of The Villages.

If anyone is going to Clermont you might as well checkout the World of Beers Clermont Location (http://www.wobusa.com/Locations/Clermont.aspx) on Hwy 27 just south of Rte 50 by the new Pennys store, it's only about a 30 minute drive. We haven't been in the WOB because we always go to Clermont for the Buffalo Wild Wings which is in the same shopping center and also Lake Ridge Winery, which is worth seeing if you're into wines.

Are you talking about the Lagniappe Brewery (which is actually in metropolitan Minneola :D ) ?? Or is their one in that area that I do not know about ... which would shock and sadden me
Lagniappe is excellent!

As to the brewery in Spanish Springs, we were told that a microbrew operation is using the eqpt. in Gainesville, can't remember the name of it - Swamp Brewery, perhaps?

^^^This is why I am afraid they won't stay in business.
Amazing news that WOB is coming to TV! This is a place where you go to drink a variety of international, quality beer. NOT a place where you find "happy hours" and $1 drafts. I hope enough people support it for what it is and go for quality over quantity rather than quantity of quality.

Give me a choice of a 2 for 1 of a beer like Sam Adams or Land Shark at Cody's or $4.95 or more for one beer at World of Beer and I will take the 2 for 1 anytime.
Happy Hour at Palmer Country Club offers 2 for 1 on all their drinks including bottle beers. That is an excellent deal in the afternoon after a round of golf.

You all are complaining about something that you know nothing about. Wait till they open and then you can do your b&^%hing.
No one is complaining. The comments about whether or not customers would be coming in big enough numbers to World of Beer are not complaints. In order to stay in business, they must generate enough customers to have a profit. Can this be done without Happy Hour pricing during a part of the day or not is not a complaint.

Must have been a pretty short employment since Brownwood has not been open that long with only a few stores!

If anyone is that curious, there is a WORLD OF BEER (http://wobusa.com/Locations/Clermont.aspx) in Clermont. We drove by it today, it's about a 35 minute drive from the south end of TV, you can take either US 27 or the Florida Turnpike. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings which is just across the parking lot. I didn't see much business in the place, it has big glass windows all across the front. It sits on the corner near the Apex Theater. It's the same shopping center as the JC Penny.
BWW wasn't very crowded either, might of been everybody had enough of the sports bars yesterday for Super Bowl. Maybe next time we'll stop in WOB. Their website shows entertainment on Friday & Saturday. For a change of pace we've been going to Clermont, they have a Pennys, Target, Kohls and Belks that are all recently built in the last 3 years or so. Also, it nice to go to the Lake Ridge Winery, which is just north of Clermont.

This Paul Avery: Expansion on tap for World of Beer in 2013 - Tampa Bay Business Journal (http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/blog/morning-edition/2013/01/avery-expansion-on-tap-for-world-of.html?ana=lnk) article says they allow you to order delivery of food into their business so you can eat while you drink. That seems interesting. I haven't been to a WOB but certainly look forward to giving it a try.
It will be interesting to watch the new square develop and grow.

The Daily Sun Construction Update shows "late summer or early fall."
In our early days, (2005\2006) there was no decent beer in TV and the supermarkets stocked more of the same American collection, which all taste pretty much the same. Over time both Sweetbayand Publix have added a nice selection of craft beer to choose from. Who said, "Everything comes to he who waits," should have added "If you can hold out long enough."

Well, we will just have to come back again later in the year!! :beer3:
I now there is a store down on the 27/41 south which stocks different beverages from around the world, so will have to stop there on the way up. Shame, as we do like to shop in local stores etc..
