I went to Walmart yesterday to buy some groceries. I got in line to check out and was in back of a somewhat large man. At the last minute he noticed there were sodas in a cooler near the register. He asked the clerk what the price was. She said she wasn't sure but she thought $1.65.. So he looks at me with a smile and says, "that's too much". I thought there was something unusual about his behavior but I couldn't quite figure out what was going on.
Anyway, he checked out and walked away. The clerk at the register was chuckling and let me in on the secret. She said he had told her that he was buying goodies to eat on the way home, to cheat on his diet. The only exchange I heard between the two of them was when she asked him if his wife would see the items on the receipt. He said, "no, she will never see it".
Here's what he bought for his big calorie splurge: 2 small apple pies and a pint of ice cream. (And, in case you're wondering, the clerk didn't charge him anything for taking his confession.)
Have you ever done anything like that or know of someone who did? This thread is offering amnesty to anyone who needs to confess.
