We all have those times when we hear of somebody we know who has lost a loved one, or is otherwise in times of trouble. We sometimes reach out but sometimes wonder if we have the right words, or worry that we are intuding on their privacy. I know I have often held back, feeling that I had nothing to add to the situation, or nothing to offer to help them heal. Having recently gone through the devastating loss of our grandson, I can tell you with certainty just how important the concerns, thoughts, expressions of love, and prayers of others truly are felt. I have previously thanked everyone on this board who reached out in various ways to help us in our time of need, but wanted to emphasize how deeply those various expressions of your caring helped us through the struggle to maintain hope in a miracle, and the eventual reality that a miracle would not happen in this case. Through all of this we realize that the true miracle is the love and caring in this world and beyond. We will all ultimately face the fate that Quentin experienced, much to early, so it is not a question of if, but of when. The real meaning of life is the shared experiences, and the love and caring of the people we are fortunate enough to come into contact with while we are here, no matter how long that may be. We had friends reach out in ways that I could never have imagined, and to whom I will forever be grateful. I will try to never again miss an opportunity to share by sympathy, my prayers, my hope, my faith, and my love for those who I find in need, because I now know just how strong and how meaningful that expession can be. Thank you.

It is easy to care for someone so kind and so aware of others, Ed.
Many times I know that all of us wished we could do more to help. Or somehow to serve your families convenience if nothing else.
Hugs. And continuing prayers.

As eloquent as ever, Ed.
Thanks for letting us know your thoughts - and hoping you and your family are doing as well as can be expected.

I lost my dad in a plane crash when I was 27 and it was those people who reached out with love and kindness, and particularly with stories of their positive experiences with my dad, that made those days bearable. My heart continues to go out to you and your family at this time. Hugs!

I saw the photo of your Q today and was truly saddened to hear of your loss. It is so heartwarming that he has helped so many others by willingly becoming a donor. I will pray for your family to find peace and comfort in your deep faith, love and treasured memories. You have a very special guardian angel.....I have many and believe me, Q is with you all. God Bless all of Q's friends and family.

Be strong Ed.
I think we all are not sure if we will say the right words. But are there any?
Being there and letting people know you are there becomes the factor. I know we all wish we could have done more.
Best regards.

Ed, although we have never met, my thoughts and prayers are still with you and your family during this most difficult time. As above, never sure what the right words are, or if there are any. Please know your TOTV family is thinking of you. God Bless.

That was a lovely expression of your feelings, Ed. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and it was satisfying to know in some sense your big, wonderful TV family could be of comfort to you. I empathize with you, care about you and your immediate family and am thankful for each day on this earth. What a wonderful way to be able to remember your grandson, knowing he has helped others in his short time here. Please know we all wish you peace and happy memories in the coming years.

A beautiful, thoughtful and eloquent post. Prayers for you and your family as this ongoing grief process evovles. I don't know if anyone truly recovers from this kind of loss. It's needless to say that when confronted with a situation like this, I become tounge tied as to search and find adequate words that would help the healing process. The best thing is to say, "what can I do to help you".
I personally know that my closest fiends have helped me throiugh my life's adventures and I feel enriched to have them in my life. I know that TOTV members will always be there for you and Lila to help you in your time of need. I hope you writing down of your feelings is therapuetic for you.
