Has anyone eaten at Jeffrey Paul's Chophouse (The Deuce) in Leesburg 10 minutes from TV? Advertisement in newspaper says voted Lake County's best steakhouse 5 yrs in a row and voted top 10 steakhouse in Central Florida along with a 5 star rating. My next new restaurant choice was going to be Vic's Embers. Now I'm not so sure.

The best thing I can say about Chophouse was they kind of sort of tried. Can't recommend. Vic Embers is a much better story and there have been many good reports. We have been there several times with excellent service and food.

jeffrey pauls' was very good, however it was so overpriced. the building is ugly, minimally remodeled from the past tenant. the inside is dark, not upscale. nice dinner music, good performer/singer. overall it was a nice dinner, but I do not think that I will be going back as it si not remotely an affordable evening. bill came to 100.00 including tip, one drink for each of us (1 beer, 1 glass of house wine) and dessert. and that included the use of a 20.00 coupon.

Thanks for this post. We were going to go tomorrow night to use the $20 coupon, but I think we'll pass after these reviews. Bought some beautiful strip steaks at Publix today while shopping and think I'll just make a lovely dinner for us tomorrow night.

Marks Prime in Ocala is excellent and much better that both Jeff's & Vic's. It is also not inexpensive.

From one Jersey Shore person to another.....Vic's is the best by far. We use this for birthday's and anniversary's and always look forward to the return trip.

Tried Jeffrey Pauls. Had great meal and service was great, Very expensive, The decor reminded me of a supper club from a 1950s movie and was very dark, Nice touch was Jeffrey coming to each table and giving each woman a rose, Will try the others before I go back,

Well, finally made it to Vic's Embers Saturday night. On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the best, I would rate the service 5+. The queen cut and blackened prime rib, I would rate a 4. The vegetable choices were corn or stewed tomatoes. Stewed tomatoes? Very strange. Not a corn lover, I chose the stewed tomatoes. I would rate them a -1. They came in a separate little dish and looked like pureed tomatoes with a crouton in the middle. I tasted it and it was sweet. I asked the waitress "what is that?" She said SWEET stewed tomatoes. She didn't use the word sweet originally. With all the vegetables in the world to offer, sweet stewed tomatoes, really? Personally, I think the meal was about $4-$5 overpriced. However, show your POA membership card, and you get either an after dinner drink or a little dessert in a shot glass. Very nice. I would go back; probably next year, no sooner.

Stewed tomatoes are great. I wish more restaurants offered them on the menu.
I believer the owner (Vic?) came from Dayton Ohio. In Dayton there is a restaurant / bar called The Pine Club. Best NY strip steak I have ever had. For years I would go to Dayton for a three day convention and all three evening meals were at The Pine Club and of course the stewed tomatoes were a must. One year we the waitress even brought seconds. My friend that went to the convention with me also loved the stewed tomatoes and he raved that they were made just like his mother use to make. He even took two quarts home one year.
If I ever get to the Dayton area I always stop at The Pine Club.

I can think of a lot of sides that I would like to have at a restaurant the level of Vic's, with a nice piece of rare beef .... stewed tomatoes would not even be a blip on the radar screen.
Each to his own.
and I still think that Marks Prime in Ocala is better. ;-)

:agree: Love stewed tomatoes. Vic's does them right. They are supposed to be sweet, by the way. Vic's is a throwback to the supper club days when attentive service and personal attention by management was the rule of the day.
