Some folks haven't grown up in a hunting part of the country.

I am not a hunter but hunting is considered a sport by a good number of folks.

It isn't illegal.

It turns a lot of animal lovers off.

We will hear both sides....passionately.

I am not a hunter. However in my experience, I have seen that organizations who own hunting "preserves" and promote hunting are general pretty good stewards of the land.

I would think that environmentalists would see this most recent "Morse" acquisition as a positive development.-----Silly me!

I really, really, really despise hunting as a sport; however, if someone needs to hunt to eat I can accept that. Just can't see how it is fair to hide in a blind and kill a deer - what the hell is that all about????

Animals in the wild generally die a miserable death. They grow older and weaker and starve to death or become deseased or are brutally killed by other animals. "Survival of the fitest" In the humble opinion of this non hunter, A bullet may be the most merciful end .

Hunting is frequently harder than you think it is. Study after study says that licensing fees actually improve the overall habitat and the herd. I bow and rifle hunt but haven't shot anything for years but love to be out with nature.

Yes, if the Morse family decides to have all old animals in their new hunting area, I would agree. They could make a video and catchy theme song to attract the aged animals to this unique town and call it, maybe, The V.... WAIT AHHHHHH!!!!

Folks, meat does not come from the supermarket. See all the cattle as you drive around the area? Those animals don't die of old age. I no longer hunt but I've eaten a lot of game in my life, both big and small and as long as I eat meat I have no right to gripe about the hunters.

I believe most folks (except vegeterians and vegans) understand the need to slaughter animals for food - even hunt animals for food. It's the hunting for the trophy we have the problem with.

...not sure about the location near The Villages but up here the dear season does serve an important purpose since the population becomes too dense for the food supply. There is always a kill limit depending on your permit.

as a practical matter, the hunter kill is usually more humane(IMHO)

They'll probably re-locate the buffalo there so they can hunt (or poach) them.

My personal opinion is for it to be a sport all participants should know they are playing.

It should help the economy in the Ocala area and provide a great venue for hunters. I enjoy burgers and an occasional Rib-eye!

You think cows ever figure out why they are being fed every day?

Y'all ain't from around here, are ya? If you would like to get a feeling for the culture of rural Florida, hang out at a sporting goods store, or better, a tractor/farm supply retailer. Remember, gentle souls, that you are invasive and they are native.

Is it just me, or are the south deer on the small side.
They look like a BB gun would drop them.

I noticed that about wildlife in general. The squirrels are definitely smaller here.

they are mule deer, not the white tails most are used to seeing

Probably 'cause those "folks from around here" kill them before they are allowed to mature!

Just curious about the design of the square they put there. Hope it has a large dance floor with plenty of seating and enough room for market nights and lots of shopping and..... Oh, never mind.

...that sounds like deer in deep south florida, like the "key deer".....
I have seen wild Hogs along I-75 north of Gainesville that were way bigger
than "key deer".

The BIGGEST Deer I have EVER seen were on the West end of the
Cell Phone Lot (RED lot) at the Orlando Airport...(on South Access Road).
......that statement coming from a person who is from "UP NORF".....
.....................................and we had some "biggins" roaming the farms.
