2004 Elec, new batteries (6- 8volt) Feb 2010. Intermittent problem of cart slowing down to about 5 mph. Then after 'cruising' at that speed, the cart sometimes will speed back up to 19 mph on its own. Sometimes stopping the cart, sitting for a few minutes, then taking off again will 'solve' the problem. This slowing down could happen within 5 minutes of leaving home with a fully charged battery, or after driving to WalMart and back - about an hour.
We've tightened all the battery cables, made sure water levels were adequate, but we're not sure what else to check.
Any suggestions????

It is hard for you to do any more than what you have done without the proper testing equipment.
It most likely is a bad battery in the mix causing the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
How does one test for a bad battery????

Battery system testing starts with charging the system, then installing a battery discharging machine to the system and allowing the batteries to go to full discharge. When the batteries reach that point each battery is tested while the discharge machine is cycled again in test mode. That process and recording the battery voltages is recorded and reveals the faulty battery. This process is time consuming but the machines do most of the work.

Thanks for this info - I've been secretly wanting a newer cart - and now I have an excuse!
