I do look at the 3 Squares to view the activity. I have noticed that the Paddock Square seems VERY quiet!

1) Is this because it is new?
2) Are there not many homes near there yet?
3) Could be the entertainment?
4) Just too far for most current villagers?

As I said - just curious.

I'll go with 1, 2, and 4 with the addition of "not many businesses there yet".

It's gonna take a bit of time for everything to equalize then the place will really be rolling! It's going to take more businesses moving in and that will take a little time. The new homes that will be in the vicinity will be built before we know it!!

As I said - just curious. It's just my opinion for whatever it's worth, but you have to consider that Brownwood is less than half built so far and that south of 466a is far from being fully populated so far. I'll bet that within the next year or two things will be much more active in Brownwood when it's completed, more businesses establishing themselves within it and the population in that general area multiplies itself! So final word for me here is that you pretty much did a good job of answering most of your own questions.

Can some recall how "quiet" the Publix shopping center on 466A was the first year it was open?

Certainly can't say that now....eh?

It just takes a while for the population that will be closest to that square to move in/fill in.

Do you remember when they were widening 466 (not 466A!!).
Morse and BV were dirt paths.......it was quiet then....once upon a time.

Look at Lake Sumter and all that is in it and around it, then can you imagine what is going to take place in the future, if that is what is planned, when Brownwood and Paddock Square starts to REALLY grow. Then look at Rte 44 and think about how 27/441 is alive with retail, restaurants, and services. Every time we come back down for the winter, we are always amazed at the changes.
Exciting to think of what could be in store for us as time goes.......

I would also point out there is a lot of room for expansion there (unlike the landlocked Lake Sumter), both by the developer and by outside interests, as by Spanish Springs. I think in the long run that will give us a very interesting area, different from the other two. I'm sure the developer could have opened the square complete with several restaurants and stores, but having those "pioneers" go out of business because the traffic hadn't gotten high enough yet would be a real negative. They've got the movies and the music, so there is a reason to come, and the farmer's market seems to be a great hit. I really am looking forward to seeing that in March.

I've talked with some people who tell me how quiet the shopping center south west of 441/27 was when it was first built. People were up in arms over the horrible expansion that was going to ruin the beautiful lifestyle of the Villages.

Was talking with a friend whose been here about 7 or 8 years. They said that LSL was similar to Paddock Square in it's beginning. Look at it now...you'd swear it's been here 'forever'. Give it time...once there are more businesses and homes down there it will be hopping busy!! Then, I'd wager folks will say "I liked it better when there weren't so many people!!" or some such comment!! Sometimes, the entertainment and or the weather also determines if there is a crowd or not. I'm not saying the entertainment is bad...but think "Rocky and the Rollers" or "Uncle Bob's Rock Shop". Some just draws alot more folks. Just saying......

All good things come to those that wait. Patience is the key. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I'm sure it needs to be built of more in terms of business wise and more houses are to be constucted in that area. In time will be an enjoyable experience for almost all.

For seniors it's not so much about being impatient, but how much time we have left to wait.

It seems like Brownwood is turning into a Catch-22 situation...people don't go there because there are no businesses, and businesses won't come there because there are no people. Even the people from the surrounding areas don't seem to be showing up, like Continental Country Club.

Yeah, but they're building houses down there like there's no tomorrow

There's 10's of thousands of feet of commercial space under construction behind the green fences. Does nobody look around at what's going on ?

No, many just read some of the posts and then complain. I agree one should go take a look.
Besides in 6-9 months the posts will be "those damn outsiders are taking all the parking places".:sigh:
