This morning's Daily Sun had an article about a shooting yesterday morning around 8:00 at the intersection of Lake Ella Road and April Hills Boulevard in Lady Lake.

Two young men approached the car and shot the 24 year old woman in the shoulder. She was airlifted to Ocala. Her four year old was in the car with her. The victim did not know the suspects. A drawing was released of one of them, a white male with spiked "two color" blond hair and dark eyebrows, one eyebrow with unusal razor cutting design through it.

The police said "they believe the victim was targeted."

The child was not harmed and is staying with relatives and no burglary occured.

This area is near 466a and 441/27

The article also said that it is believed this was not a random shooting but that the lady was targeted.

Yes, that is what was said, but saying it does not necessarily make it true. There's not enough information provided in the article to know for sure whether it was targeted, a robbery attempt, or some random act of violence. Perhaps the authorities prefer labeling it as a targeted attack, to quell public fear.

Perhaps a drug deal gone wrong....

Not enough information yet. This could have been someone high on some kind of drug as well. Could have been a failed carjacking. Maybe, they did not see the kid in the car at first.

No, I'm not getting it.

I would go with the probability of a former boyfriend being the one wanting to do harm to the lady. The article did not mention a husband but stated the child is now staying with relatives.

Even though it happened just a very short distance from The Villages, I am not going to start feeling like this is an unsafe place to live. I am still going to be taking midnight walks - hope the coyotes don't get me! Personally, I am more concerned about the pack of cougars around Katie Belle's.

Like to meet some of them. :a20:

The Villages is so big now that this part of Lady Lake is a sizable distance from all the neighborhoods near and/or north of CR466.

The Villages is the safest area I have lived in by far.

Post #1 clearly states "the victim did not know the shooter". This would rule out a few of your suggestions.

Or they know details they're not ready to release to the public because it will help in prosecution when they get them.

My first thought was drug deal gone wrong - what is a young woman with a 4 year old doing out a 8 in the morning. But I moved here from "the hood" where this stuff was common place so that is probably where my thinking comes from!

Could it be that she was driving her child to daycare on her way to work? Why is everybody so anxious to attack the victim?

In the article it said she was taking her daughter to day care and was stopped at a stop sign.

I would say she would be taking her to school or a babysitter , enroute to work perhaps? Schools begin earlier up here, but in some states they do start at 8 a.m. or later. I would think daycare for a 4 year old.....unless it was a pre kindergarten.

But, yes, drug deal gone wrong could also be part of the equation.
Or, perhaps, someone she knew owed someone else money for drugs.
It's not fair, but it happens.

People have lost their humanity......and have no conscience anymore.
It seems murder or attempted murder is more rampant, probably due to the drugs they are all on.

Sad story.

I'm just so grateful that neither the mother or child was killed and that this jerk was a bad shot... Can't imagine how scared they were. I pass by this community all the time on my shortcut drive to Lady Lake and 441/27. Seems like a nice, quiet community.

Amazing how the first thing that people think are drugs...or why would a woman be out with her child at 8am...or that she owed drug money. Heaven forbid that a 24 year old black woman would be taking her child to daycare so that she could go to work! Perhaps she lives in the "wrong" neighborhood and the local thug decided that she shouldn't be there!

Whats wrong with being out at 8 AM? with a 4 year old? 30 years ago my then young wife would have been out every work morning with 3 kids under 4 taking them to child care, does that mean she was asking to be shot? What is the magic time that you can be out and not asking for some criminal to do you wrong?
