I saw a dance store in the same little shopping center as Bargains and Treasures, near the intersection of 466 and 301.

Hadn't noticed if it is still there.

A line dance teacher said she never wore her dance shoes to the squares as it would ruin them.

Tic-Tac-Toes Dance Shoes: Product Categories (http://www.tictactoes.com/dance/home1.htm) This is a link to Tic Tac Toes Dance Shoes online. They have the suede leather sole for dancing at the rec centers, but they are going to wear out if you use them on the squares. I only dance at the rec centers so any leather soled shoe will do me.

Tic Tac Toe shoes are expensive and too good for dancing at the Squares.

Dance shoes are sold at All About Feet, on 466 across diagonally from Urban Hair Studios. I don't think dance shoes can be worn in the squares as I think the special soles will wear out. However, I think the owner of that store can tell you, he's a genius about shoes and feet and he will know the answer. I'm going there tomorrow for dance shoes to use while dancing the Carolina Shag dance at Bradenton Rec Center.

I've yet to find a rec center with wood floors, which are ideal for dancing. Most are laminate, producing too much resistance to a pivot, which stresses the knee. Concrete offers no shock absorption and worse friction.
Even though I've been dancing a long time, I don't have shoes for such challenging conditions. I noted that many people wore a cut sock end over their sneakers for line dance on laminate...that's a inexpensive, practical gem.

I'll be looking for some low heeled or flat LEATHER soled shoes for the laminate floors because leather is the slipperiest. Would suggest not using suede shoes as they are designed to provide a tad of friction.

The concrete in squares begs for a shoe that is slippery AND has some cushion for the foot during impact. Both of these are minimally supportive, but at least are tough and slippery: bowling shoes and cowboy boots.

Update... I did buy dance shoes at All About Feet and I love them. I bought leather soles so I can wear them outside. They have been fantastic, I can dance, swing and double swing and not hurt my knees. Its been great at Bradenton Rec Center, Waterfront and Havana CC. I think all 3 have different floor materials.
