I went to Wal-Mart this morning on 466. The first Shell gas station I passed had their price at $3.22. I drove less than two blocks and there is another Shell station (owned by the same person, I believe) and their gasoline was $3.49. I could not believe my eyes that a 17 cent difference would be within 2 blocks and both the same brand. I kept on going to Wal-Mart and noticed the Murphy's gas station on the opposite side of 466. Their gasoline was $3.49.

Needless to say, I made a quick turnaround and went back to the first Shell station and filled my tank. The price was still $3.22 but the tanker truck was filling the station tanks. I don't know for certain if his price did go up to $3.49 but I will guess it is there now.

What situation made for a 17 cent jump overnight? Ridiculous!!

Before I gas up the car, I usually go to gasbuddy.com or the gas buddy app. It shows all current prices in the area or along your route. It can save you 10-15 cents per gallon.

gasbuddy.com (http://www.gasbuudy.com) is the bomb. I could have a few pennies last night if I checked before filling up. $50and tank was not full. Certain stations charge 10 cents more per gallon if you use a credit card. At least they do in CT. Paid $3.73 per gallon in cash.

Monday AM I was on the turnpike going to the airport and noted the gas at the service plaza was $3.39 which I thought was comparable to the price in town. Two hours later driving home it was $3.55. Either they penalize northbound drivers or they just got a new delivery at a higher price. Amazing how quick the price goes up.

and the prices always end in 9/10 of a cent.

Why Do Gas Prices Always End in 9/10 of a Cent? (http://www.wisegeek.com/why-do-gas-prices-always-end-in-910-of-a-cent.htm)

Back in Ohio it is not uncommon to see the prices jump $.50 to $.60 at one time. I have seen it more times than I want. To top things there was nothing to cause the increase but speculation.

Oil prices are inching up again and oil traded today as high as $98.04.

Yesterday I also saw the Murphy was at $3.49 and the Shell stations were still at $3.32. I could not pull in fast enough and I topped off the car. I then went and got the cart and filled it up as well. They play their games and I will play mine.
