We currently have Bright House, so far so good. We are looking into Direct TV so we can have the NFL channel. Any comments on Direct TV would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Janet

Janet, I believe your choice will ultimately be guided by what will be your personal preferences in terms of viewing. We have been Direct TV customers for six years and believe that we have made the best decision based on our viewing preferences. We can't say enough about their customer service or the extent of programming offered. There has been a time or two where we have been unhappy with some of the equiptment (HDVR) performance, but this was a manufacturing problem with many of the units they sell. It's unlikely this will change as they are made by many different manufacturers in China......
I would suggest calling Direct TV to find out if they offer the programming you want at the price you want to pay. I think during your initial call to them you will be able to determine if their customer service represent a company you would like to do business with. Keep in mind, if you go to Direct TV, you will not be able to get the Villages local channel. If this is of utmost importance, you might want to consider another source.

I definitely understand looking at alternatives and making sure you are getting the best deal for you, but just a heads up, we have the NFL Network, channel 1145 in HD, included in all digital packages (TVs with set-top boxes) at no extra charge. We also offer NFL Redzone, channel 1146, during the season as part of our Sports Pass. The Sports Pass is about 20-30 extra sports centered stations for $10/mo.
The only thing we do not offer with the NFL is the NFL Sunday Ticket. This is an exclusive package with DirecTv. I do not remember the exact cost, but I believe it is somewhere around $300 for the season of this package.
Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can help you with.
Thanks,
Paul

No, unfortunately not. We are still only south of 466A in the Sanibel, Fernandina, Charlotte, Gilchrist, and soon Pinellas areas.

I was on your web site and really couldn't tell what you get in the packages. Do you have a package that includes Fox Midwest and the rest of the regional fox sports channels? also is a dvr included?

Can't comment on Brighthouse Janet, but we have had DirectTV for 13 years and find their customer service to be outstanding.

We offer several of the Fox Sports channels as part of our Sports Pass and we do have a few specials that include DVR.
If you want to email my work email at paul.muniz@mybrighthouse.com I will send you a channel lineup and we can discuss package options.

Hi Ed,
I contacted Direct TV and Brighthouse. With Brighthouse we did not have to sign a contract. Direct TV you must sign up for 2 years. Right now the cost would be the same with both companies. Next fall I would pay and extra $50 a month for 4 months for the NFL Sunday Ticket with Direct TV. The second year of the contract I was informed the regular cost would increase $20. plus whatever the extra would be for the NFL Sunday Ticket. I wish Brighthouse offered the NFL Sunday Ticket.
Tell Lila I said hi,

I've had Directv since 2008. Three years in Baltimore and the last two years here. I have the Premier Package, which means I get every channel they offer except for some spanish, soccer and Playboy type channels. It runs about $145 per month with tax.
I've never missed a Ravens game since 1996, so it was necessary to get NFL Sunday Ticket when I moved here. I'm not the type that can watch a game in a sports bar, I have to have my own setup, which is no outside distractions and my 60" LED TV. In 2011 Sunday Ticket was $300 extra, this past 2012 season they gave you an option. Pay the $300 and get every game including Red Zone and computer streaming, or pay $200 and get every game and no Red Zone or computer. That's what I did, I took the $200 version, which means paying $40 extra for five months.
When my bill went back to normal last month, I called Directv last week and mentioned that I've been a good customer since 2008 and I'm thinking I'm paying an awful lot for TV. They said, we'll knock $240 off your bill, that's $20 a month for the next year and gave me HBO and Cinemax free for 3 months. I have both my original HD boxes from 2008, I brought them with me when I moved to TV. We've never needed a repairman, never a failure or a problem never had a complaint. Directv is aware of that when you call them, they will work with you if you're a good customer. They will make you sign a two year agreement when you start service because they have a lot more to do than connect a cable. They have to provide a satellite dish and install it on the roof of your house and then connect with your central wiring system. I signed a contract in 2008 and it expired a long time ago. In 2008 I switched from Comcast to Directv and I figured I would give them two years anyway.
I get every regional sports channel. For example I can watch MASM Baltimore and Comcast Washington anytime. If you like Boston, you can watch NESN anytime you want. Now, if the Red Sox are playing they will block out the channel until it is over because they offer the MLB package as a separate item. Same thing for NHL and NBA, so it may cost you some money but at least you have the option.
They just added six more HD channels this week, so now we have at least 150 HD channels not counting all the regional sports channels which are in HD. We have very few outages, and sometimes the picture may go out during a heavy rain storm but if you go to non-HD channel you will still be able to watch the channel in most cases.

Or watch something previously recorded on the DVR. We usually do that if it seems like the signal's going to get interrupted a bunch due to a lengthy storm.
