There's a lot in this statement:

"The faster carts are appealing not only because of their speed but because they're safer and are legally allowed to travel on most roads that have speed limits below 35 mph and can cross highways, Colangelo said. For example, such golf carts are allowed to traverse busy U.S. Highway 27-441 — one of the main avenues through The Villages — while regular carts cannot.

"They can go shopping at The Home Depot and Sam's Club," he said. "They can get to more places. … They don't need golf-cart paths."

I think if carts are going to cross US Hwy 27/441 or go thru circles on Morse or Buenva Vista Blvd, they OUGHT to pay more for insurance, because this is risky driving, by people who are getting into the age group that once again puts them into high-risk insurance with a car....because they are high risk drivers.

Are LSV's really allowed to cross 27/441 to get to Sam's and H-D?

yes, you must cross at an intersection that has a traffic light

I would think their price alone would justify the higher insurance cost.
