Stucco on designer homes

Has anyone had the stucco on their designer homes, in the villages, develop cracks in it? If they did how did you repair it? My home which is only about six months old has developed several cracks, some about five feet long. They are hairline. If your home developed cracks ,how old was it before they showed up?
I do know the builder is responsible to do repair work, but I was just wondering if others had the Same problem. Thanks

My designer home is stucco and is 11 years old. No cracks at all. Must have had quality work done back then.

I was told that hairline cracks in the stucco is "normal" and common----nothing to worry about.

You have to dig 'em out and make them wider and fill in with stucco caulk, then paint.

Home warranty is wonderful to work with. Call them and they probably will send the original stucco contractor out to fix no charge hopefully. Good luck

We had a few hairline cracks which were sealed and spot-painted as part of our one-year builder warranty. I probably wouldn't have even noticed them if the inspector that we hired hadn't found them. The inspector told us that hairline cracks are "normal" (for lack of a better word)... but they do need to be sealed up as it is a way for moisture to enter the structure. Not a big deal, once you know what to look for and what to do.

hairline cracks are normal in block homes.

Many of my neighbor's houses have cracks in them, discovered when they had their one year home inspections. Home Warrenty takes care of that. I encourage you to have a one year inspection. They found other things wrong too.

Skybo is correct. Those hair line cracks can turn into bigger problems if left go. Our former neighbors in our old neighborhood did not take care of their cracks and their neighbors sprinklers were hitting their house. Low and behold, moisture over a period of time, got into their home and created a lot of mold. The homes had to have all its drywall taken out on the one side. What a mess. Easy to fix and even check after your 1 year warranty. They develope over time. They will also open and close with weather change (hot and cold) so every once in awhile, take a walk around your home and look at the walls.

Cracks in stucco homes are common, but not "normal". Unfortunately, a lot of things have to happen starting early in construction to prevent it. It begins with proper soil compaction, including under the footings, proper curing of the slab (only happens if the lucky homeowner gets 3 days of rain on the fresh slab), proper layup and curing of mortar joints, and correct mix, application, and curing of stucco. Calling the cracks "normal" is simply lowering construction standards to fit mediocre practices.
