While on the Boardwalk At Lake Stumpter Landing when we visited the Villages noticed big holes in the shallow water. In these holes was fish (strange to me) had the mouth of large mouth bass, shaped kinda like bass, had scales like Carp, and light Blueish around the Mouth. They fanned out the hole like Bluegill would to make nest, except these holes were hugh looked like inpact craters. I goggled these fish (couse if you don't know the names does do much good) Native Fish of Florida with no results. Figure d it was imported, but don't know? Anybody know what name of those fish are???? I asked around and I guess everybody I asked was tourist also or they just noticed them.

NO, NOOoooo. I am holding my ears. I like Talapia. I get so grossed out just watching House Hunters International when they show weird food at the food markets in exotic areas.
Yuck. Please don't tell me more.
I am glad that the OP has kinda forgiven me. I am such a smart mouth sometimes. My mother pointed that out to me more than once..

Maybe so, but your crack about the drunks and pee in Lake Sumter made me laugh. You have added a new angle to the NPILS ongoing forum component. Some things on this forum just catch on and STICK!
Ahem, got anything to add to the dog pee/poop issue? How about roundabouts, bicycling, landscapers, how to walk on the streets, and, and, and... We appreciate fresh humor!

Those fish are very aggressive. Watch when another tries to get in the crater, or even if they try to swim across it.

Gracie, that is hysterical. I know that old joke, but had no idea someone had actually posted it on food.com. That site, by the way, is where I get most of my recipe ideas.
On a slightly yuckier note. My grandmother didn't believe in wasting anything, as a good Arkansas farm wife. She would can carp, bones and all. The idea, like salmon, is the bones are then edible. I can still remember, with a shiver, rows of mason jars with gray, slimmy looking fish parts in them. Never did have the nerve to try eating them. Don't know if she liked them, but she always had a cheek full of snuff, so I seriously doubt she'd been able to taste anything in a few decades.

Jflynn1, I seen the bass and these were not bass, Bass Cross maybe, but not largemouth or spotted bass. The bass was up by the gates, these was around the boardwalk and I could the color around the mouth and the diffeent scales. I sure what I seen was Tilapia as pointed out.
At the end of the boardwalk on the bridge side Couple of Somebodies was fishing catching Bass 4-6 pounders and releasing them. Guess must of been Developer

Me thinks many observers need glasses those craters were created by mermaidens. I know because I have had conversations with two of them. One of them told me that they are tired of guys peeing in the lake

I think they are carp too. They're aggressive because those are spawning beds. Fun to watch them.

TALIPIA.......These are the fish that restaurants, now a days, are always featuring on their menu's. Many places try to give you the impression that you are getting an exotic fish. They are actually a fresh water farm raised, common and cheap pond fish.

Tilapia are a non-native fish, originating in the Middle-East and Africa. And, yes, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission considers them an exotic animal species.

Opp's forgot to thank pat from RI with her quick response! Thanks for the link...Pat! Gracie, all well. I've read several posts with your comments and answered alot of my questions I didn't have to misspell my way through. rubicon if your seeing mermaids you may want to stay away from happy hour! Irish rover I don't think carp fan out holes to lay their eggs, they go into the weeds and lay their eggs. Only in USA European Carp is considered trash fish. In England they have Carp tournments kinda like we have bass tournments except they fish from the bank. There is another carp invading Northern American rivers. If you take small boat down the Ill. river you may be knocked out by flying carp. (utube it) Cfrance I'll try to stick to my boring outsider Villager wantbe questions, they will get me into enough trouble:thumbup:.

Want to see something amazing or funny need to see the utube video on Asian Carp in the IL. river. I think the title is Flying carp IL. river. Hundreds flying in and behind the boat as it goes down the river. I watch English Snooker tournments on utube all the time. If you like Billiards check them out all especially the 147 runs.

The fish in the video is the Silver Carp. It is invasive to the USA and is causing a lot of damage.
