I was wondering if there are any good craft or art stores in the villages or close to it. I don't imagine I will find a stained glass supply close but what about bead stores or general crafts?
Thanks for your help, :mornincoffee:
Trudy,
PS I haven't been on the site much over the last year, as we had to put off retirement for awhile but are going to try for 2013 :2excited:lets hope our house sells.

We now have Michaels and Joanns and there is a place in Leesburg too that has art supplies. Also I still use Cheap Joes on the internet for some of my colored pencil, acrylics and other art supply needs.
I am glad you are posting again but surprised you are a fella. Your name made me think you are a girl. Puppies name?

Trudy,
Sounds like we have the same interests.....I did find a small stained glass shop in Leesburg, but you and I may have to make some side trips to Glasscrafters....they are in Sarasota. I have a habit of breaking glass and playing with fire (lamp working) . Sounds like you may also. We are (will be ) in Gilchrist ...close next week!

There is an amazingly amount of talented people in the villages and I feel that there are not enough craft stores to support them. We have JoAnns and Michaels. I am a jewelry maker and I find the best deals at JoAnns. They have a much better selection for my craft and there seems to be a sale every week. I would suggest you go on line and look up what ever your talent is, ie....art supplies, yarn, fabric, etc. you can get a lot of things on eBay too. I wish we had more art and craft stores, perhaps a wholesale place.

I have been doing various crafts for most of my life got into it in high school as I went to a bording school that was a Waldorf school and the arts are half the day. I started out as a weaver but that is hard to keep up as it takes alot of room.
I Have never done lampwork with glass just foil and lead. Both panels and three-D. I also like to do Kumihimo braid weaving.
We hope to get down Fall of this year or early next but have to sell the house which unless I stop tinkering with it will never be done in time to market.
Thanks for the info.

The best selection is Hobby Lobby in Ocala. They are closed on Sunday. Don't bother going to Michael's in the Villages. Very sad assortment.

Totally agree! I went in there looking for embroidery kits and they had ONE! Michael's is fine for dried flowers...everything else, definitely Hobby Lobby in Ocala!
