Someone sent me a link from a European paper and it would appear that he has quite a history of problems. I quote "But while Pistorius captured the nation's attention with his Olympic quest, police said there was a recent history of problems involving him. Police spokeswoman Brigadier Denise Beukes said the incidents included "allegations of a domestic nature."

"I'm not going to elaborate on it but there have been incidents (at Pistorius' home)," Beukes said. Police in South Africa do not name suspects in crimes until they have appeared in court but Beukes said that the 26-year-old Pistorius was at his home at the time of the death of Steenkamp and "there is no other suspect involved."

More GUN violence??? MORE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!

He could've just as easily stabbed the poor woman. Don't fool yourself.

My first impression is they had trouble all along and I tend to think it was the best excuse he could come up with. The article I read, stated that he was sad. He shot her four times as he supposedly thought it was a burguler. Hmmmmmmmmmm four shots?????

If it were me, I would be depressed and very upset with myself assuming I was in love with her. How sad for her . My condolences for her family and friends. He just could have walked away from the relationship. What's wrong with people????

I may be wrong as I am sometimes, but this story doesn't jive with me.

Ok then, more domestic violence carried out WITH a gun. But I take issue with your claim that he could've just as easliy stabbed her. I don't know all of the details of how this all went down, but regardless, guns make it all too easy to kill. Just aim & pull the trigger. No up close personal contact req'd.

The nation's focus on guns is like focusing on all blue cars. Suddenly that is all you see are blue cars. Unfortunately this gun obesession is distracting true root causes that need to be dealt with but won't.

When they seem to be a main common denominator in our violence-ridden society today, tell me why they shouldn't be the focus. Just because Wayne LaPierre & the mighty NRA says so?

The question that I have is "why do some people think they have to use deadly force to solve all their problems?" I could see it in some cases where somone needed to defend themselves against a violent perpertrator.

I read somewhere that most murders happen in cases where the assailant was someone they were invovled with.

Civilized people use the court system to get justice in almost all cases assuming they win their case.

Just sayin......

Excellent point, and one I hadn't considered even though I am an advocate for more gun control.

Love the NRA

yesiree, any organization with a fine, upstanding patriot & citizen like Ted Nugent on their Board of Directors HAS to be a bunch of real intelligent, quality folks. LOL

Hopefully South African law will keep Oscar Pistorious in jail the rest of his life, if he is convicted of this horrible crime. That will give him plenty of time to get his anger issues under control.

Unfortunately, there are many famous people who get away with murder, both here and abroad. Remains to be seen what will happen.

Doubt if his claim about his shooting a prowler in his high crime neighborhood will work because of the previous domestic abuse calls from that home. http://www.law24.com/index.php?option=com_fastcontent&view=layman&Itemid=168&domid=slucb/9kmdb/9seeb/h6mfb/ig1rb

South Africa does not have trial by juries in criminal cases. It is a judge and two lay assessors for serious crimes. http://www.citizen.co.za/citizen/content/en/citizen/opinion-columnists?oid=326214&sn=Detail&pid=40&Jury-trial--consider-your-verdict

It sounds like he planned the murder of his girlfriend from the news accounts. And from what I can tell about South African criminal law it is a lot harder there for a defense lawyer to just spin a yarn like in the US. There's no jury just the judge and two assessors who are lay people. Not sure if these are on a lot of cases or not.

Automatic, semi-automatic pistol? Would like to know more about the floor plans too like how big a window the bathroom had if any, etc.

more GUN violence.

Yes, and if your house is being broken into, the first thing that you are going to do is call 911 and pray for a man with a gun to show up.

No defense in what he did. Four shoots though a door. No self-defense as he was behind a locked door and she did not try to break it down. It is murder, plain and simple.

Now go call 911, better known as Government Dial A Prayer and stop being afrid of an object. You have a better chance of being run over by a bad driver, here in the Villages, that you do getting shot.

I sure this article doesn't turn out to be the dicrediting of the police's version of what happened, as I would hate to see Oscar Pistorius get off due to a technicality.

I personally think he is guilty as charged. This poor woman didn't have a chance. :(

Let's hope there will not be Van der Sloot connections in the judicial system that will allow this guy to skate.
