Why do shoppers leave their basket cart nearly against another shoppers vehicles when the basket cart return is only 10 feet away ??
Whe do Villagers allowed six, seven, up to a twelve year old youngsters operate golf carts when it is clearly a violation??
Why do Villagers allow their dogs to roam free when the covenants clearly require pets to be on a leash when outside the home ??
Why do Villagers not pick up after their dogs ??
Why do Villagers become angry at others so easily ??
Why do Villagers want golf carts to greatly exceed the 19.9 MPH speed limit??.
Why do babys learn to hate??
Why do men refuse to raise the toilet seat ??
Why do Villagers park their golf carts in the middle of auto parking spaces at the postal stations ??
Well , these are enough for now, feel free to add your own. It might be fun....

I'd rather know (positive things)
Why are Villagers the happiest people you know
Why are Villagers so eager to help their neighbors
Why are Villagers so outgoing and friendly
Why do Villagers want to learn so many new things that they never tried before they came here
Why are Villagers just such wonderful people
Just because...that's why.

why do you intimate or paint us "Villagers" with the broad brush of those things done by only a minority who live here. And you don't really know how many that do your "whys" are not "Villagers".
Most of us do what is right and object to general categorization ....even perchance in a humorous mode.....I subscribe to the old saying that many a true word is said in jest.
OK all you knuckle head "villagers" that do the whys....shape up....you are giving us a bad rap!!:):)

Okay, here's my big opportunity to complain about something I've been wondering about for a long time.
Why can't men pee in the urinal without making a puddle on the floor in front of it?
Why can't the recreation center mop it up a few times every day on a busy day?

Why can't someone post without it being intimated that they are attacking the perfect Nirvana of the the Villages and its (selected) people?

I don't see any of these things in the Villages. Well, hardly ever.
I see the vast majority of people returning their shopping carts to the proper area.
I don't think that I've ever seen a six or seven year old driving a golf cart. Maybe a 12 year old in a quiet area with an adult closely supervising them.
I occasionally see a cat running around but I've never seen a loose dog except one that ran away and I helped the owner capture.
Every person I've ever seen waling their dogs in my neighborhood has a plastic bag on their hand.
Angry??? I've found Villagers to be the happiest, friendliest people of any community I've ever lived in.
My golf cart can go 22 mph under optimal conditions. It might on a regular basis go 20-21 unless I'm going downhill. I don't see many people passing me and my cart has the high powered motor. I'd hardly call 20-22 mph "greatly exceeding the 19.9 mph speed limit.
All people are capable of hate and that is not necessarily a bad thing. I have violence. I hate that people steal and cheat and hurt other people.
I think that not lowering the toilet seat is more of an issue for women in the middle of the night. When my two boys were little they wouldn't raise the seat. It really got their grandmother upset. I don't know of any men that do that.
You got me on the golf carts in the middle of a car parking space. Although I do have to say that I see people sharing a space about 90% of the time so I don't think that it's a real problem.
Do you live in the same "Villages" that I do? The one between Leesburg and Ocala in the State of Florida?

I have seen pre teens driving golf carts dozens of times. At times no older

I have to ask: are you living on planet earth??? In the Villages ????
Two weeks ago I was verbally assaulted by a golf cart driver thaqt went into a tirade using the F word. There have been actual fights on both squares between Villagers.
I know at least a dozen residents who are at war with their neighbors.
There is no way that the majority of Wal Mart shoppers return their basket carts to the cart return ( except for Aldi's) It is not unusual to return to a vehicle to find a cart resting against your $40,000 car.
I observe dogs off leash nearly every day. Just go to the large area behind Freedon Point.
I cannot understand anyone saying that hate in not necessarily a bad thing. Babys don't hate, puppyies don't hate, I don't think Billy graham hates.
You don't know any men who will not raise the toilet seat ?? You are kidding me, right ??? Go to any unisex toilet and have a look.
I can show you hundreds of golf carts that are capable of going 30MPH plus and are driven at top speed. Have you ever been passed by a golf cart when your were in your car ?? I have....
I will accept your other comments at face value. For the vast majority, the Vaoillagers are a caring and friendly community and is a wonderful place to live. My original post was to be accepted in a light maner and not to be too serious.

Why do perfectly capable people insist on having their groceries carried out to their car at Publix? Just because the service is offered is no reason to be lazy.
Why do some folks cover their mailboxes with stickers (graffiti)? It is sloppy, and I cannot believe that most people are unable to find their own mailbox each day.

Right on Patty55. Also, you see what you look for. My understanding is that everything is happening out there and what you put your focus on is what you notice and bring into your experience. Because we can only take in a very small amount of information of any situation, I choose to pay attention to what makes me feel good about life and my surroundings. It takes too much energy to have to deal with the stuff that could make my life more stressful than it has to be. Thankfully it seems to be working for me, even up in the snow. Have to say that when we are in TV it is really easy to notice all the pluses and to feel grateful.

"Why do Villagers allow their dogs to roam free when the covenants clearly require pets to be on a leash when outside the home ??"
Why do people continue to believe this as the truth?
The covenants can only (and do) address "common property". The same is true of Marion, Lake & Sumter Co's animal control ordinances. My dog will continue to be leashless on MY PROPERTY while under my direct visual and voice command.

I felt I had to respond to this first question. I go to Publix purposely to have my groceries taken out as I had major surgery on both my feet this summer and can not lift more than 10 lbs. for 6 more months. I no longer wear a cast or have a limp, there is no visible signs that I am nothing more than a "perfectly capable person". I feel it is wrong to judge a person by their looks only. You don't know what type of medical restrictions a person may be under. In my case, it was serious feet issues. However, it could be heart related or other issues you can not detect. Please don't judge by appearance alone. Thank you.

On the Publix question ... I am quite capable of taking my own groceries out, but, when asked, I always say to the staffer .... if you want/need a break to go outside, sure, let's go. Seems like 8 times out of 10 they want to do it. So, I do it for them, not for me.

Not only that... Publix is a higher-end grocery store and offers this service as part of its customer service. Why did this word get eliminated? He was a person who put groceries in bags and carried them out to customers' cars. For Pete's sake!
And that should be perq up there, not perk, I believe--short for perquisite. My bad.

Thank you.

I totally feel what Warren was trying to illuminate. My "why" is
Why can't someone post without it being intimated that they are attacking the perfect Nirvana of the the Villages and its (selected) people?
Why when someone posts negative about The Villages they make it all inclusive when in fact negative old farts only make up about 2 or 3 percent of the total in this PERFECT NIRVANA of The Villages. You have to look hard for someone like that here. The vast Majority are perfect.

Why do perfectly capable people insist on having their groceries carried out to their car at Publix? Just because the service is offered is no reason to be lazy.
I think Publix offers a fabulous carry-out service, very personable. I'll bet they get a lot of customers for that reason! Just because people look perfectly capable to you, that doesn't mean they are! And as Villages 07 said, many of the carry-out staff welcome the opportunity to step outside and chat with customers.
Why do some folks cover their mailboxes with stickers (graffiti)? It is sloppy, and I cannot believe that most people are unable to find their own mailbox each day.
We've already done the mailbox/sticker issue with a huge number of excellent comments. Since most of us probably spend less than two minutes a day at the Postal Station, I don't see stickers as being majorly offensive.

Is this really true?
I won't live in TV until later this year, and have 2 Schnauzers. They are very well behaved and I had hoped to be able to have them unleashed, as you say, "on my property while under my direct visual and voice command." (I will do whatever the rule says.)
I had neighbors who did this quite often and I marveled at how well behaved their dog was. He would not leave the yard even when the owners were not looking. But then one day he disappeared and the whole neighborhood was out looking for him.
Here's my theory: Every once in a while I would see a wild rabbit go hopping
through my yard. The dog must have seen it too, or smelled it, and went chasing after it.

You are 100% correct. As I read many posts I find there are those who live in a Polyanna world and see everything thru rose colored glasses. If you post comments of a negative nature even with it containing a a lot of humor, there are those who apparently believe their world here in the Villages is being attacked. Just as an earlier commentor to my posting that she has never seen most of what was contained in my orginal posting. Within minutes I can show her dog poop, Pee all over the toilet seat at Tierra Del Sol golf course ( a unisex toilet), basket carts scattered throughout the grocery parking lots, litter left in baskets and on the ground at these same parking lots, dogs running free, people in golf carts using the entire auto parking space, VERY young children driving golf carts, golf carts speeding along at least 30MPH, nasty residents and of course the handicapped thing is a whole issue by itself. So to you maam, who called me negative and whiney, remove those rose colored glasses and what you will find is the Villages, except for the huge amount of anenities is basically just like any other community.

Gosh. I am going to have to look back and see who said that.
It must be gone.
Those of us who try to see positive things in life have always tried to see positive things in life. We were just as annoying back from whence we came.

I don't think of it as rose coloured glasses. i acknowledge that everything is going on. I just choose to put my attention on what makes me feel good and seeing all the positive things makes me feel better than focussing on what is going "wrong". I also do my best to not contribute to the "going wrong" part.
We have all learned how to notice what is "wrong" and our radar can tend to send us in that direction in order to "avoid trouble" so it can take some efforting to notice what is going right. Maybe we all just need to remember to "be the change we want to see" and notice how many others are like us. Bet there are more out there than we can imagine.

No one and nothing in life is perfect. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I think positive people have a better chance of living longer. Those who tend to the glass as half full. It does make one feel better inside when they are in tune with the world and those around them.
To be negative all the time leaves one feeling not well and I don't see that it can accomplish much. We all live in a stressful world and I think as we age, we have resolved a lot of stressful problems.
The funny thing about life is when we have our problems resolved, those whom we care about, have problems that we like to help them with. So, it's always something.

I don't think of it as rose colored glasses or being protective of TV or polyanna as chided by some.
I think it has to do with some of us who are used to things being done right and proper and responsibly and courteously.....and when it is not some of us are outspoken enough to call it out. It has nothing to do with where we live.
You just happen to be seeing it here on TOTV and we now live in TV. Consider it a set of core values that apply regardless where one lives.
And I do disagree with the statement TV is like anywhere else we have ever lived....because IT IS NOT!!!!!!!

"Spot on" LW888!
I read through each post and appreciate the humor, as well as the various points of view. I still live in Michigan and work full time and would like to share a "light bulb" momemt with you. I was on a plane from Detroit to Orlando (coming "home"), when suddenly I could feel myself relaxing and actually smiling. As I thought about it, I realized that when I am in Michigan, I am "surviving", but when I come "home" to "the bubble" I am "living".
My "why" therefore is, why are people so worried about frivolous things when there is "life" out there to enjoy?

Getting back to the non-fart/non-bag thread....
Why is it every single woman I meet and there is mutual attraction, "just visiting" and is on her last 2 days?
Why is there no venue for original music (boomers - remember coffeehouses prior to Starbucks?)?
Why is my cart the slowest on the road?
Why did my motherboard die yesterday (ps. I discovered a truly great tech in Leeland...the kind of guy I worked to hire in my prior life and inexpensive to boot)?
Why does the cat nibble on my toes when I am working on taxes?
I repeat...Why is it every single woman I meet and there is mutual attraction, "just visiting" and is on her last 2 days? This is quite vexing...after a 30 year marriage to Voldemort, I figure I paid my dues.
Oh - and why does Panera always sell out of sourdough loafs, first?
I'm done...gosh, I thought all that venting would help..but, alas, "no."
