I have had a Midland weather radio for over 4 years. The radio is programmed correctly. However, I am not getting any weather alerts nor am I getting the monthly test. Prior to a year ago it was working correctly. When I press the button on the radio I do get the time and conditions. I think that I should purchase another radio. Any suggestions of what to do?

John, take it over to one of the fire stations. They might be able to help.

I am also having a problem - got the Test the other day and later that night the test display was still scrolling. It never shut off. I didn't get the alerts either when they were issued. It's programmed correctly. It is a Midland WR-100. I'm going to put fresh batteries in it even though I have it plugged in.

Just changing the batteries, found one that was leaking. It wasn't bad, but I wonder if that had something to do with it. The battery dates were 2017 but they have been in there a long time since I got it.

I also had a Midland model 100 weather radio. It did not give alerts any longer nor did the weekly test register on it. The weather conditions did not sound off when I pushed the bar. I called Midland customer service and they diagnosed over the phone that the radio was no longer working. They said I could send it in for repair but it would be cheaper to buy a new one. I bought a new model a couple of weeks ago at Wal-Mart for $29, programmed it myself, and it works fine.

Our Midland works fine but it does not sound when there is a weekly test. The yellow light does come on it to let us know that there has been a test of the system. We have the WR-100 model and the owners manual states that during the weekly test the yellow advisory light will be visible but that no audible message will be heard.

Is it possible that while cleaning buttons were pushed and some settings are out of whack? I would recommend you go through the entire set up process. If you can't have the manual I am sure a Google search will come up with an online version.

If you live in The Villages or actually anywhere in Florida, the weather emergency radio can be a life saver. I would advise almost anyone (I can think of a few exceptions) to keep this possible life saver plugged in by your bed.

Sent from my iPadAnd, if there's time, grab some sofa cushions or pillows to protect your head and face from debris, and some bottled water, if you have any.

Hi John from Roe of NJ...we didn't have to worry about this in NJ...but had other weather worries...and taxes...yes, I would purchas another...we live in a throw away world...things last a short time...possibly the newer ones would be better as well...call Seco...they sell them and see what they share.

Have a good weekend

In the event of a Tornado, most deaths are cause by head injuries. You may want to have Bicycle helments handy. I like the cookie idea but, they never seem to stay around long.:pepper2:

Just an update on the weather radio problem. Since I had programmed the old radio correctly and it didn't work I decided to get a new radio. I went to Ace Hardware and they had a Midland Radio there for $29.99 which I purchased. Yesterday when I went to Publix I saw that they had the exact same radio for $14.99. Oh well, it's only money. BTW, last night I got a warning on my new radio that there was a freeze warning. At least I know the new radio works. For an extra $15 it should <ggg>

I absolutely agree; no home in Florida should be without one of these alert radios. Mine runs two tests a week on Wednesdays--one late morning and the other early evening. I have two extras of these radios that were donated to me to be sold as part of a fund-raiser. I would sell them for $10 each. If anyone is interested, please reply to this post. Thank you.

We had one since we moved here 9 years ago. When we went to Savannah Center a couple of weeks ago, the person from Villages Safety said you need to buy a new one every couple of years. I purchased a new one and had it programmed by the fire station. It hasn't beeped yet but I bet it will this weekend! Also register with Code Red through the sheriffs' offices.

Thanks Sunny. Nothing yet since 12. Reading directions tests deactivate the tone but should have readout that test went through. Just heard between 4a and 6a tomorrow will have some severe weather coming through so well see. Anybody else chime in please on tips.

Great idea! Also bring milk (for the cookies) water, flashlights, medicine, a battery powered radio, and something to read. And don't forget the pets - OK also your mother or mother in law.
