Dear new TOTV friends
We finally purchased our property about 10 days ago and have our design meeting on April 5th. I have been making notes from TOTV posters since our first visit 1 year ago. I was hoping that some really smart poster that has recently built, would still have their spreadsheet from their design meeting and would be willing to share. I am fearful I will miss something - even with all these notes I've taken. I'm scared and excited all at once. Never built a home before, so I am pretty unsure of myself. Could any one please PM me if you'd be able to send a detailed list. Thank you in advance.

SuziQ:

What is it that you are looking for? We finished our design meeting yesterday but we didn't have a spreadsheet.

But not to worry! Your design team person will print out a large layout of the model you select. As a team, you will go over every room, detail by detail right down to the location of the light switches and power outlets.

You will have the opportunity to add, delete, revise your plans AT ANY TIME during the process all the way up to the moment after until you sign the actual sales contract. Really! We made our last change during the final review of our selections just 5 minutes before we signed our contract.

And remember that you can always ask your design person what types of things other buyers did for their homes.

If you have specific concerns, just post them...I and others will be glad to share input.

Thank you 2BNTV, I had also taken notes from all those nice posters.
And gmcneill, it was so-o good to hear that the design team is so helpful. I guess I hadn't realized that they would share what others had done, so you might not actually forget anything important. Others had stated that they were "helpful" but I guess I didn't think they would remember to offer even small changes. I've been so concerned that I would forget the small stuff like extra outlets and extra TV hook-ups and extra towel racks. Its kinda intimidating for someone who has never done it before.
Keep the pep-talks coming - cuz I sure can use the encouragement!

Feel free to pm me at anytime during the design process.

You will be fine. And if you begin to feel overwhelmed during the process, simply tell your design team person that you need to step back for a few minutes, or that you want to leave something and come back to it later. We were rushing to sign off everything by the end of one day but we were stuck on two items. As 530 pm approached and we really
pushed to finish. Notice I said we, meaning Wifey and me, not our design rep Stacey.

We made it to our design finish line but Stacey didn't like watching how we got there. She watched us stressing and getting glassy eyed. She said that she would begin the final work if we wanted but she suggested that we come back the next morning after letting our minds relax and sift through the design.
We followed her great!! suggestion.

Keep us all posted re: your process.

Good Luck

I recently did design appt. suggestion is have sales agent take you to the model center for the model you have chosen and compare: door types, door handles, light fixtures, cabinets, cabinet handles, counter surfaces, bath fixtures, paint colors, flooring. those are some of the small details that have to be decided under time pressure.so give yourself a little time to think about those decisions. Wonder if you are single like me?
