My husband recently changed to Premier Medical Associates and thus far the experience has been unsatisfactory. It's an assembly line type of operation. The doctor sees you for 5 minutes (note I said sees you doesn't mean he does anything) and then rushes to next patient.
Yesterday while waiting at another doctor's office I overheard two people talking about their dissatisfaction with Premier.
Does anyone have good or bad experience to share? I've suggested to my husband he start looking for another doctor. He has PCP can anyone suggest a good doctor?

Well my experience at The Villages Health Center at Colony Plaza was the doctor was given 30 minutes for my physical, but spent at least 20 - 25 of those minutes typing into the computer. Was told I would have to make another appointment if I wanted to discuss anything! Struck out there.

I agree. I left Premier for that very reason. It's all about the dollar, numbers, assembly line (I like that, describes what I mean exactly).
Hope you found someone else to go to (just reading this).

I had an unpleasant experience at Premier when I first moved here in 2010; rude staff and the NP I saw was downright angry. A woman in the front billing office was shouting at a patient. No doubt I caught them on a bad day but I've never been back.

Same for me: no problems at all. Granted it IS a large medical practice; however, there are some pretty well qualified MDs there.

I've been with Premiere for about five months. I see Dr Sundeep Shah and I have been very happy with him. He takes his time with me and discusses whatever is bothering me. He when out of his way to get me in to see a specialist without an appointment.
And don;t let anyone kid you. They are all about dollars and numbers. They are businesses.
I had stents put in my coronary artery at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital in Boston. They are touted to the be the best in the nation for that procedure.
While I was waiting to go home, I heard two hospital staff members talking about the doctor that did my stents. They were saying that the reason the administration likes him so much is that he writes 11 million dollars in business every year.
That fact didn't take away from the quality of service that I got.

I've see Dr Gegaj for about 4months now and he is great. Refers other doctors for what you need speaks perfect English, easy to understand.

I experienced a traumatic realization last month. My husband died of a tumor (almost always benign) on his parathyroid gland. With my medical background, I found conclusive evidence of this, but too late to save him. The correct treatment was a 20 min radiographic band-aid procedure performed at Tampa General.
In the 4 months of seeking treatment and opinion from PCs and specialists alike in TV, including 2 neurologists, he was consistently dismissed as having Alzheimers, apparently a convenient catch-all for people of age here. In my 20 yrs. of experience as a geriatric consultant, I can say with authority he had no signs of Alzheimers, except for a failed Folstein Mini-Mental screening for "something's not right". My arguments, and the clear case I built fell on deaf ears until it was too late.
Patients should not be disregarded at any age. I would recommend to others that you never give up control of choosing docs, and do go "outside" when things don't come together quickly. With today's cookbook medicine, they either come up with an answer pretty quickly or they are headed in the wrong direction.

You have to be your own or your spouse's advocate, don't settle, don't be afraid to change doctors, go with your gut instinct. i really believe things will be shaken up here in TV with the medical culture, come the new Health care system in TV. don't be afraid to give feedback, as that is what they want to make it a success.

My wife has also been with Dr. Gegaj at Premier the two years we have been here and has no complaints. They also have an after hours walk-in clinic at the Spanish Springs location. A couple of times she has felt ill and we went over to the clinic and since they had her records, they could treat her right away.
As a side note, a player on my softball team died three weeks ago and he was with Premier. He had been suffering numerous ailments since last December, they ran many tests and thought it was either a thyroid or auto-immune problem. In April he missed the last couple of softball games and began to get worse. They sent him to Shands Hospital in Gainesville for tests. After the second bone test they found he had a very rare cancer that less than 3,000 people a year will get. Unfortunately he was then too weak for chemo and died shortly after entering the hospital.

We have used Premier Medical for about three years and find Dr. Gegaj to be very thorough, compassionate and an excellecnt listener. He is a good diagnostician. It is sometime hard to get a quick appointment, but their urgent care doctor, Dr. El Arousey is just outstanding.
We are very satisfied with the services and there have been many that we have received from Premier.

Dr. Gegaj, Dr. Shah, Dr. El-arousy, Dr. Ana, they do have a great group of doctors. Their Urgent care is open all holidays. I have to agree that they lately have been a lot of referral and phone issues but according the office manager, they are diligently working to correct those issues. I have yet to see a group of doctors who are willing to take that kind of extra care of their patients.

I have been a patient at Premier Medical for over 18 months. My doctor takes his time with me; listens to me and has never rushed me out in 5 minutes. The medical assistants are also great, they take there time with you; they are compassionate and kind.
The front office is also great.....
