I was under the impression that the airport van, serviced The Villages. The last two times I returned from the airport, the driver had to make a stop in Leesburg which extended the ride from the airport by a half hour. The area of pick up and drop off has expanded within the Villages due to all the growth. The travel time should not be extended longer by making stops in Leesburg. :spoken:

The Village Airport Van is a private company. Their websites states that they provide service to The Villages and surrounding communities.

The Villages Transportation Service provides service specifically for The Villages.

The Villages Van services TV and surrounding areas. Their "claim to fame" is that they offer pick-up and delivery to your door, plus 24 hour service. Two things that are not provided by The Villages Shuttle.

Just for information Villages Transportation now does have home pickup and drop off for $10 per household each way. We used it recently, van was waiting for the airport bus when we arrived at Lake Sumter and took us directly home. When they picked us up we picked up one other person before heading to Lake Sumter to catch the larger bus to the airport.

I think both Villages Van and Villages Shuttle are great services, and we're lucky to have them! With the Villages Van, it doesn't run on a set schedule. There is no charge for pick-up and delivery to your door. And it runs 24 hours a day. It sometimes does have passengers from surrounding communities, and this is what the OP was protesting.

With The Villages Shuttle Service, it runs on a set schedule from the Shuttle Stations. You can get off the shuttle bus and obtain ground transportaton to your home for $10.

Yes..It's the home of the "Morse Air Force". Gary Morse was able to twist somebody's arm so that a US Customs inspector would be stationed there (thus making it an international airport) so that the Morse Air Force could land in Leesburg & not Orlando when coming in from out of the USA.

Barefoot, Thanks for your insight! I now have a better understanding of both the Airport transportation services.

You are welcome. I can understand with a name like The Villages Van that you might think it is a service limited to residents of TV.
