View Full Version : What Happened to My Number of Posts?

I noticed my number of posts dropped. (I think??)
Thought I noticed the other day that I had over 900 posts and thought to myself what will I be when I get to 1000?
Now I see I am at 861. Maybe all of the "bumps" I did on items for sale got deducted. I'll bump this and see what happens.

Bump.
(Forgot I had to wait 30 seconds between posts. Patience grasshopper.)
Edit: Well that counted, but it wasn't a pure bump.

Maybe contact the admin? I think there was a post a week or so ago about what the different numbers of posts are called. 1000 might be gold member? There's supposed to be somewhere on this site that lists the categories. I just passed 1000, but can't remember what they called it. Maybe it will show up when I post this.

Maybe I was penalized 80 posts for not logging on one day.

Another thought - over the years I have placed items for sale on TOTV, and I see some of those were removed after a period of time. Perhaps those got removed from the count. In fact I had quite a few items for sale about a month ago - my latest guess is that any posts and replys I made on those items are gone.

Why don't you do a search for yourself and see if your 'for sale' posts are gone? Just a thought.

Wow, just seven hours later and now my number is down to 828.

Has to be the for sale items.
I checked them last night a quite a few were still there. This morning more are gone.
So my guess is that if I made some political reference and admin deleted my post my number of posts would be reduced.
So I guess I never really sold those items.

There was a time a month or so back when my new posts were not added to my total for a few days.

Negative numbers! That's my new goal.
Now if I could just turn the calendar back about 30 years.

Every 60 days the items for sale will auto delete as well as garage sales and real estate.

Obviously the count is very important to you . . . maybe too important.

What is a bump?? In message board terms, to reply to a topic that has become inactive or needing refreshed attention to, thus "bumping" the thread to the top of the thread list for renewed exposure to the reader.

Not at all, I just notice things like that, have always been a numbers person and for some reason they stick in my head. And when something changes I ask "why?".

As a relatively new member, I'm wondering why anyone pays attention to how many posts they have. Just asking!

jadios that was my thought also. I suppose a member might want to score high post numbers that would certainly be a goal. However I wonder if quantity and quality are inversely related? I mean if I can't add or offer somewhat of a different prospective than I won't comment. I have noticed that some members hold that view simply by agreeing with a previous poster which is fine I also understand a member desire to share in the discussion. To each his own
