The door bell just rang and one of our neighbors said come out quietly, there is an American Eagle sitting on your roof.

There were a couple of our neighbors in golf carts stopped to see this.

Not a very good picture, but hey, we were honored to have Uncle Sam stop for a visit at our house.

Aren't they beautiful? We are lucky enough to be bordered on the back of our home by a small lake (or a large pond!) and have a large river 1/4 mile away. There is a pair of eagles who live close by and I regularly have one sitting in the tree on my back bank. They have an amazing wingspan and are just magnificent to look at. Congrats on the visit of yours!

WOW! I thought I saw an Eagle by my house when I visited earlier this year. It makes packing so much easier, knowing that I will be there to see Eagles soon!

Very nice pictures of the Bald Eagle, Gracie.

I have seen a pair of Bald Eagles several times while playing golf at El Diablo.

I envy you, Gracie. I've seen one around my pond and I swear periodically he lands on my roof because of the loud bang I hear. They are amazing creatures, I'm so happy they visit us here.

The other morning, pretty early for me, I was driving north on Morse around Mallory, and there was one perched on a lamp post. I almost crashed my car, (kidding), when I spotted it. So beautiful, graceful and a commanding presence. I thought it was a statue but when I returned it was gone. So sorry I didn't take a picture.

What a wonderful experience!! The odd thing is that as my husband and I were driving in our car today, I told him that I thought I just saw an eagle soaring above the trees...but it must have been a big hawk. Now I'm wondering what I did see. Whatever it was, I enjoyed watching it.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us!

Might have been a turkey vulture. Pretty soon the white pelicans will be flying north.

Great pics gracie. Back in 2000 i got me a job on the maint golf crew out at del webb . We started at 5am every day in the dark. You would not believe how much wild life is roaming that golf course. We would see bald eagles all the time . Plus there were bears and lots of coyotes. Plus big water moccasin snakes. Plus every other kind of bird you could imagine. I am presuming that since the del webb course is just 7 miles north of the villages , that the courses here in the villages are probably populated the same way. You just have to get up early to see them.

They really are fascinating to watch. We have several nesting pairs near our lake house. They are great fishers but terrible skaters when the lake freezes. It's always a treat to see one and I hope I never get over that feeling.

Magnificent! You are one lucky lady that your neighbors were able to approach quietly enough to bring you out to see it.

We see one all the time on the electrical wire thing-a-ma-gig by El Diablo golf course. One time I was relaxing in the florida room when I thought I heard a baby crying. I got up and my cat was going crazy running back and forth to all the windows. Well the eagle was on the ground outside my window with a bunny in its talons. I couldn't get my cell phone fast enough to snap a pic of it. It flew off with the bunny and barely made it over the palm trees. It was an amazing site. Poor bunny though.

We see them all the time. If you're driving down Enrique to Chapparlle (spell) look up at the wires. They are always there. Beautiful!

I was walking my dog last week and there was an eagle sitting on the roof of FishHawk Rec Center. Wish I would have had my phone with me to snap a pic.

A couple weeks ago a Bald Eagle landed on the fairway behind our house. Some guy teed off and the ball went about 20 yards past the eagle. The eagle hopped over to ball and pounced on it a few times.

Early one Sunday morning in December I was driving west on 466a and spotted on at the top of a very large tree that is about 1/4 mile east of the new assisted living center. It was mostly cloudy that morning but some rays of sun were poking through. One ray of sun hit the eagle just the right way to make it really stand out. Of course the camera was back at home but I still look at the top of that tree every time I drive 466a.

Great pictures Gracie.
