Hello. I have been a lurker here for awhile. My Dh and I built our own Off Grid home in TN almost five years ago. We stay here most of the year and go to Florida in the winters.
I love to build, remodel, garden, cooking, playing with my pug, reading, playing pool, writing our adventures in my blog and spending time with my DH.
We love how clean and active the Villages is...maybe some day:)

:welcome: to TOTV.
You owe it to yourself and DH to take a LSV in the near future to check out TV. You will be blown away by it's beauty and people.

Yes we do have wide open spaces...40 acres and cows, deer and turkeys are our only neighbors. we used to full time in a motorhome so we know about close neighbors. I like the Villages for all the activities:):)

:welcome: to the TOTV forum. I'm partially off grid and have a friend in Ohio that has been totally off grid for 16 years, which is similar to your description of your TN place. There are a couple of TVers interested in solar power, etc.

Thank you for the welcome. My husband and I love being self sufficient.

Hi Lisa,
Finally got to look at your blog. Very nice! I need more time in my day to read it.
What part of TN are ya'll in? I'm looking to get some property in Unicoi County. Up for a visit sometime? Sure would like to see the place and get some ideas.
I have almost the same PV setup that you have. Same brands and everything except short on batteries.
In another post you asked what is LSV: Life Style Visit.

LSV is lifestyle visit that can last from four days to up to two weeks. Some people prefer to rent a home for a month and explore TV on their own. A LSV is preferable for a first visit but that is for you to decide.
A LSV will assign a VLS, (villages agent), to show you around if that's what you want to do. They will be available but won't bug you as if you were on a time share type visit.
TV sells itself with it's beauty and it's friendly people.

We are on the borders of TN, VA and NC.
Mike is changing our PV system this spring...hopefully for the last time, lol.

Oh that sounds like fun. I will check into that next winter. Do they allow small dogs when we come for a visit? We have a fat little pug.
