Our house will be finished next month and based on all of the recommendations from Talk of the Villages, we think we have narrowed it down to several companies. Can someone give us the email address for Jamie's and Mansfield's? We have really enjoyed looking at the beautiful pictures that people have posted!

I think you would do better to call. Most of the landscapers don't have a lot of time for emails. They can take a call while working on a job.

In my opinion Village Palms is the best. Their number is 352 753 4772. You should also stop in and see their display gardens located at the nursery, which is on the corner of Rolling Acres Rd. and CR 466. I do not think that any other nursery has such impressive displays which showcase their superior workmanship.

Mansfield has a website Mansfield Landscaping (http://www.mansfieldlandscapingllc.com/) there is a 'contact us' button at the top of the site. I like to browse the vendors website for ideas before I talk with them. I couldn't find a website for Jamie.

We just had our landscaping redone by Landscapes by McGowan (http://designbymcgowan.com/old_website/index.php), they've been in business in TV for 12 years and are one of the best. This is our CYV finished two weeks ago. McGowan has a small office location at Southern Trace that you can visit Tue-Thur from 1 - 5. The info is on their website. They will give you an itemized estimate of every plant and labor involved with your job.

Mansfield sounds like a company that does business the right way. Knowing exactly what you are paying for is the way to go.

Another vote for McGowan landscaping. They have done some extensive landscaping for us. So easy to work with and very fair and honest. They come when they say they are coming. There is no chasing them down. They are very reliable. We are having a putting green put in by them in a few weeks. Great people to work with.

My only advice is to "cool your jets". We made the mistake of wanting to get things done and though some worked out - wish we had waited on others. Give yourself a chance to catch your breath and go see these landscapes in person. Summer is slow around here for most of the trades and you won't have a problem getting something scheduled. Just one newbies point of view. Please fasten your seatbelt - you are now entering paradise!

I highly recommend you read that article before making your final choice. The problem is out of 101,600 residents, there R plenty that don't read the paper or this forum.

Leaving plenty of folks for the unscrupulous landscapers to prey on.

The lawn care or scape business has a tarnished image because of dirtbags like this.

Fortunately, there R good ones to find, REMEMBER no money up front no matter what.

In the alternative if you want some exercise DIY.

And beware of shout-outs on this forum about landscapers, as in, "I just had my landscaping done by so-an-so and couldn't be more pleased..." a few landscapers offer a discount up front if you agree to recommend them on TOTV.

And quite often it's actually the company themselves with a new ID on the forum. One company that comes on here has quite a few forum names and will actually have conversations with themselves talking about how great they are....just beware and go slow.

Land sculptures Lawn Care 352 999 1929 cuts my lawn , they are in that price range for a designer. I started to use them several months ago and so far, good results. They take monthly payments. You are not locked in if you don't care for their service.
