Here is what happened. I turned on my computer and it said, "Fatal Error", your computer was turned off improperly. I could not escape the error message so I turned off my computer & turned it on again. A prompt asked if I would like to back up my files so I stored my files there. I have Windows 7 and a Hewlett Packard PC. I tried opening these files but do not have a program that will unzip them. The geek squad at Best Buy told me to download an unzipit program which I did but it copied my files 4 times and my hard drive is loaded. So I deleted it and am looking for someone who can tell me how to unzip these files. Thanks for any help. Nancy

Try going to Ninite.com and scroll down the page to Utilities looking for 7-Zip. Next put a check in the box and then hit download at the bottom of the page. This will install the program on your computer. Next open 7-Zip and run it with your .WIM file. Hope that helps.

Nancy, Try this as it comes directly from the HP website,

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7) | HP® Support (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03056985&cc=ad&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_usen)

Hope this takes care of your issues.

Hi Shanrius,
I was able to restore my files because of your information link. I did exactly as it stated and my files are back. Thank you so much! Nancy
