Yesterday I had to put Magic, my awesome fur kid, to sleep. He developed kidney failure and went down hill pretty fast in the last week; from what I have read and what the vet told me, kidney failure is pretty common in senior cats. I adopted him in 1998, and he would have turned 16 next month. Magic was an awesome cat and my buddy and I miss him tremendously. The house is so quiet without him. I knew this day was coming someday, but I thought we would have a couple of more years together.

Magic, I will see you at the Rainbow Bridge someday.

Please hug your fur kids, and tell them how much you love them.

My sincere condolences on your loss. It's been two years for us and the pain is still there, we still hear her in the house. True animal lovers are very special people.

Hugs to you and your baby... Rainbow Bridge Home Page, Pet Loss Support, Pet Memorials, Monday Candle Service, The Rainbow Bridge Poem (http://www.rainbowbridge.com) They have a Monday night candle lighting ceremony that helps heal. It's beautiful and will help ease the loss.

So sorry for your loss. I know what you are going through. Last year we lost both of our dogs. On January 2nd, we lost Midnight, our black lab, unexpectedly. On October 29th of 2012 we had to send Samantha, our german sheperd to be with Midnight. I am happy we still have our cat, Tac. He is going through early stages of kidney failure and Tac will be 13 in May. My husband and I still cry over our dogs. My husband was in the grocery store on Saturday, walked down the pet aisle and started crying. Please everyone, hug your furry children everyday and thank them for bringing you love, pleasure, smiles. comfort and companionship. Janet

I miss our CoCo, a tortoise shell Persian we "inherited" from my daughter-in-law. She was "dentally challenged" with a snaggletooth on her lower jaw, what a personality. I miss her meeting us every morning on the kitchen floor to have her belly rubbed, she wouldn't leave until it got rubbed. Our fur kids sure add to our quality of life, don't they? I'm sad for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, Laura. I feel your pain. I hug my schnauzers (and they hug me) so much that I smell like a dawg, LOL.

Laura, my deepest sympathy on the loss of Magic. There is so much joy in having a pet, and so much pain when they transition to the other side. I've lost my share of dogs, cats and horses over the years, and it never gets any easier. They always leave a gap in our lives and a hole in our heart. Yet, they're worth it, and leave behind comforting memories. My heart goes out to you.

When a loved one becomes a memory , that memory becomes a treasure. So sorry for your loss.

My vet gave me a card with this poem when my beloved Sophie died. I hope it helps you as it did me.

Grieve not nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you, I loved you so.....'twas Heaven here with you.

Sorry for your loss of Magic. I still miss our Ben (avatar picture) who will be gone three years this June. Sometimes around the house I still feel his presence and whenever I see a butterfly I think in some way it is his spirit.
Magic will always be with you in your heart.

Thank you all for your words of comfort. I am much better today. I am remembering bringing Magic home in 1998, and he was racing around my townhouse checking everything out for the first time. And I am remembering him banging on the door of my bedroom when we visited my dad's house; Magic was trying to wake me up in the morning so I could feed him (he was louder than most alarm clocks). Pets do bring so much joy to our lives. When I get back to Chicago from visiting TV in May, I will probably start looking for a new fur kid to love. There are so many cats (and dogs) available for adoption in the Chicago area (and all over the US).
