Dr Hamilton R Fish, 32735 Radio Road, Leesburg FL, telephone (352) 728-3111. I've been going to him for over ten years. His office is approximately 15 miles south of The Villages, adjacent to the Leesburg Mall right off of SR441.

I agree. Excellent credentials. Sometimes not too warm and fuzzy but knows his stuff.

If you are looking for a doctor who will treat your thyroid naturally, you might want to try Dr. Desai. She is awesome! Everything she has done with me has been natural and bio identical!

To many people, the aging process means declining health, muscle loss, increased body fat, decreased energy, low sex drive and foggy thinking. Getting older is inevitable—but how you age is in your control.

I have struggled with finding a good thyroid doctor. Fish won't use Armour and I am not sold on Desai. If you find someone you think is fabulous, let me know.

As we age, there's a tendency for our thyroid to slow down and produce less thyroxine. A little slow is not a bad thing as long as you don't have any dramatic symptoms. In fact, when they tested centenarians, they found that most of them had this in common.
If you eat a calorie restricted diet (i.e., healthful low calorie whole foods) to slow down the aging process, your thyroid will likely get slower too and produce less thyroxine and that in turn will slow your metabolism. That's why it can be good.
Go by how you feel. If your thyroid is a little slow (hypothyroid) but you feel well, I would leave it alone. Ask your doctor about this and get a second opinion if necessary.

I second the comment re: Dr. Desai...she's more into selling her supplements and "pushing" her own adjenda (imho). She didn't listen to me nor would she put a re-fill on one of my much-needed meds for an auto-immune disease that I have. PLUS made dispareging remarks about my insurance! First physician I've run into who even cared about insurance!!! MOST folks I've seen have the mind-set of "I hire people to take care of that!"!!!!!
I too would be interested to hear who would be a really excellant endocronologist that treats the thyroid!!

One of the most complex things in medicine is the endocrine system. You need a very good doctor who understands all of the interactions and who MUST test and retest to help you get what is dysfunctioning working correctly.
Dr. Fish trained at Georgetown and was a physician at Walter Reed in Washington D.C. He has excellent credentials, but for gosh sakes don't be five minutes late. He doesn't care you closed on your home that day.
I don't care if he is a litte cool. He is very well trained.
