anyone know how much it cost to hv the locks changed when you buy a preowned house? don't they just change the cores? is it possible to do it yourself? thanks

You can buy a kit a Home Depot, Lowes, and probably ACE, and change the key yourself. I have done it many, many times.Other than a screwdriver to take the knob off the door, the kits come with all necessary tools, etc. Just make sure you get the kit for the brand of lock you have. Quickset, etc.

If you have a newer house, you can re-key the locks with the small tool they left with the house. Insert your old key, insert the tool, remove your key, insert the new one, remove the tool, rotate your new key and you are done.
