I know in the large scheme of things, considering what has happened in Boston, that this bears little weight. I almost didn't post this, but wanted to report to those who were interested.

I took Pooh the rescued parakeet to the vet today. He gave her (yes, they said she's a girl) a cortisone shot, but during the day Pooh deteriorated. I picked her up from the vet's around five. They said she probably had a concussion, and possible brain damage indicated by a blood clot in one of her eyes.

She surely was in worse shape than she was when I took her in, but I think it was because her injuries worsened as the day wore on. Shortly after we got her home and set her up with a light for warmth (suggested by the doctor),she stopped breathing.

Thanks for all your well wishes.

And to Pooh... we are such bird lovers. Thanks for lending this little girl your name. We are seriously considering a Pooh II. Full name would be Pooh the Parakeet II. Nickname would be The Poohster.

You were Pooh's Guardian Angel to say the least - how lucky she was to have you in her little life - thank you for all you did.

Oh, C, I'm so sorry that little Pooh has passed away. You are such a dear to take her home, seek care for her and give her a warm and loving environment in which to pass on. Thank you so much for providing her care, compassion and love.

Pooh II....a loving tribute to a little yellow bird. The Poohster....:) WONDERFUL!

RIP Pooh.

Awwww...not the outcome I was hoping for. CFrance, I don't know you, but I can honestly say you are a very kind and loving person.

The Rainbow Bridge became a much lovelier place today with the addition of a beautiful little parakeet named Pooh.

Thanks for trying.

Katie

agree with all of the posts before this one...and imagining this small bird crossing the rainbow bridge - once again chirping away - and then surrounded by her new family who will be overwhelmed listening to the story of the generosity of the pet lovers of the villages. :)

Thank you all for your kind words. I appreciate them.

You did your best for "Pooh" and that is more than many would do. "Pooh" was very fortunate to have you look after and comfort her.

I'm happy that Pooh got to spend the last days of her life with you in a safe and happy environment and not outside being pecked to death alone. I remember you saying that she ate up a storm so she felt well enought to do that. Birds are such interesting creatures; I'm happy to hear that there may be a Pooh II or maybe a poohtwo. Thank you for being you...
