Wow, that's where Village Mercantile used to be. Much smaller showroom area. I suppose that it will be more catalog shopping.

A friend of ours works for Southern Lifestyles in LSL and she had told us some time ago that the LSL store would be downsizing and a store would be opening in Brownwood but she did not know any dates.

When I first moved here I thought Southern Lifestyles was expensive and upscale. I learned that they would meet another furniture stores prices and order things from less expensive lines like Broyhill, if they didn't carry it.

On our first house in Hadley, we shopped in Cincinnati and I called Southern Lifestyles and told them the price of a light colored Broyhill bedroom furniture group that I saw at Furniture Fair inCincy. I worked with a young lady named Jenifer (one n) Thiemann and she said, no problem, and ordered the set giving me even a better price than back home. They brought it,(free delivery) set it up, (DUSTED IT or wiped it all off) on the day of our arrival. They would have brought us a loner bed if it had not arrived on time.

Now they have opened the Showcase Direct that sells more affordable furniture in their Spanish Springs location. Jenifer Thiemann has retired to raise her baby and someone else is probably there to give expert decorating advice.

Both Showcase Direct and Southern Lifestyles are owned by the Morse family. I am sure that the people who don't like them will see that as a negative. I don't.

We also found nice and affordable furniture at Ikea in Orlando, Babbettes in Leesburg, Pier one and Dockside and Bargains and Treasures. We brought a trailer with stuff from the Frontgate outlet in Cincy...real bargains! I made the drapes, Sweetie and I painted the walls a pretty sea color in light teal and our house was a home. I painted some local scenes on canvases for our walls.

My next door friend Ruthie found her stuff at Rooms to Go in Ocala and KathieI used another store she likes and I can't remember the name.

Here is a picture of our home in Hadley.

Good info. Gracie. We are coming from North Carolina and I could shop in High Point but am afraid that I won't purchase the correct size furniture, color etc.. until I am physically in the home.

I'm not the best decorator but this time I want it to really reflect Hubby and myself.

Graciegirl....if you painted the canvases shown in these pix of your lovely home, they are just beautiful!

Thanks Gracie, yes I did. I used Babcock in Fruitland Park. I found them to be incredibly good. I bought all my mattresses, headboard, dining room set and buffet and a desk. The salesman was wonderful and he even threw in a couple of extra dining chairs (and we know how expensive they are) for me. Pricing was excellent and that was 5 years ago and nothing fell apart, LOL.

We bought furniture here and there. Dining room/breakfast room at Southern Lifestyles. Our living room at Family Furniture US 441 in Leesburg and bedrooms from Showplace Direct. Our lanai from Sam's Club. Accessories purchased from too many stores to mention! I understand (after consulting with my golf/coffee buddies) accessories make a good excuse for the wives to go shopping. Ooops is that a male chauvinist remark? Southern Lifestyles in Brownwood makes sense. Downsize in Sumter Landing also sounds like a good business plan.

I have purchased furniture from Southern Lifestyle including an adjustable electric bed and mattresses. I love the fact that they will come out every 3 months and turn the mattresses for me at no cost. I have also purchased a living room and dining room set from Kent in Belleview about 7 years ago and have had no problems with them at all. Because I bought 2 rooms of furniture from Kent, they were also willing to negotiate the price as well as free delivery. Have no complaints about either. I do think that Kent carries a more "edgy" line of furniture as I have never seen my dining room anywhere else!

Just my opinion but they are moving for 1 reason. It opens up depending on size about 5 places they now rent out to tenants who pay rent and a per cent of sales. A friend of mine works there so i have a little inside info.

I agree downsizing makes sense For The Sumter Landing store because they already did just that a few months ago and leased the former space. With all the new homes moving south toward Brownwood, a presence there also makes sense.

I thought Southern Lifestyles might be high priced because of some of the reasons stated here. But I found the exact same Bedroom set at a Furniture store in Wildwood and it was $250 more, and they said they couldn't come down any.

I found our new bedroom set in a very nice store in Michigan..after checking for locations in this area that might have the same set I found it at Southern Lifestyle. Not only was it less costly, we received our Village discount, free delivery and set up. I couldn't have been happier. They also delivered it the day after we closed which was perfect.
