Everybody that owns a dog loves it. Right? Well then why would anyone put their family pet in danger and drive a golf cart (pretty fast) while their dog, with a leash on runs beside it? I saw this early last evening while golfing on Chula Vista. This man had to make a screeching stop because "fido" ran in front of the golf cart. I had to take a second look. People profess to love their animals yet many of you have your dog running alongside the golf cart. There is NO excuses for this. If you're handicapped, hire someone to walk your dog.

I've seen the same thing in other parts of tv like along buena vista and over by paradise area. I would never try to do something like that with our dog. That's an accident waiting to happen.

I'll never understand why the dog owners who do this do not see the danger in it. I would NEVER do anything like that to my dog.

I agree mfp, I would never do anything like that to my dogs. If people own dogs, they are responsible for exercising them, especially large dogs! Perhaps the owners have a disability that prevents them from walking their dog, and they WRONGLY think this is a good substitute. Or perhaps they are just lazy.

I will never understand why people don't just take their dogs to the dog park where they can safely play off leash and socialize with other dogs!! Doggie Doo Run Run offers a fenced five-acre play area.

It's sad to know people don't realize how dangerous that is! Sickening!

Maybe the older person can't walk, indeed, and obviously, that same owner might not recognize how dangerous this practice is. When I lived in CA, there was an older gentleman who did something similar. The owner was driving his car, the dog was attached to a leash that the driver held as he drove up the street. Alas, the dog was in the street...in the way of oncoming traffic.
Might be nice if a neighbor could take the pooch for a walk. One of the problems aging pet owners might be faced with.

I believe this is against the law to tie the animal to the "moving vehicle". It can be endangering the animal's life. Some people do not fully understand the "dangers" of how and what golf cart can do to be harmful. It is so sad and heartbreaking, knowing the outcome can be and too late for the owner to reverse the situations.

If the dog's master can't walk well, that is NOT the only way to get exercise for the dog. And it's darned dangerous. Many people who take their large dogs to Doggie Doo Run Run don't walk well. The dogs get to play off leash with other dogs on a five-acre fenced area, while the owner sits in a chair and chats.

Have seen this practice more times than I care to count -- by car, by cart, by bike. Flinch every time. On the plus side, when by bike it is usually the rider who will get injured, not the dog.

Just ask "Chevy Chase", very funny movie and great scene with him dragging the dog with cop.
