APWire says an arrest has been made.

We will wait and see.

Whoops. I mispelled interesting, above.

I just hope that they are close to getting this lowly no good coward.

Now there are conflicting reports. Two agency's are reporting an arrest and two are saying no arrest, as of 2 34 pm today. According to Fox News.

CNN and Fox first said there was an arrest but now are backtracking. AP first reported an Arrest. Bottom line conflicting reports.

Huffington Post is reporting that CNN and Fox jumped out early and mis reported that an arrest has been made. NBC was the first to refute this. No mention of ABC in the article...Stay tuned, eventually someone will get it right.

As of 4 PM no arrest being reported by all Boston TV stations. Earlier they were all reporting an arrest but have retracted their statements.

Media was gathered at Moakley Federal Court house and a bomb scare closed the courthouse.

I am in Massachusetts with TV on.

Don't believe everything they tell you on TV! They just retracted that statement.....I think the news stations are trying to "one-up" each other!

I want to know what's going on, too, but this telling everything by the rumor mill is ridiculous!

Shortly after noon, CNN said that an arrest had been made. Soon afterward they showed the courthouse with tons of reporters standing outside.

ABC came on the air and George Stephanopolous said that an suspect had been I.D.'d but no arrest had been made......then a senior correspondent, Brian Ross, said YES an arrest has been made.

All of them were "quoting their sources"...or so they said.

FOX flipped and flopped like CNN.....first they said an arrest had been made, then they retracted it.

Meanwhile, CNN said well maybe a suspect is in "custody" and being read his Miranda rights........and on and on..........then they all retracted it and said NO ARREST HAD BEEN MADE.

Obviously, they are trying to "hold onto" the viewing public........but patience would be better , in order to get their facts straight and accurate. We often think of the simplicity of good old Walter Cronkite.

My pet peeve is when whomever is typing the "banners" across the bottom of the screen totally "mis speak", "mis spell" and confuse viewers even more...........

We shall all hear the latest at 5 p.m. during the news conference.

Yes, they all want to be first.......especially CNN. I call them all "the talking heads".
We rarely watch CNN but have been glued to the news shows since Monday.....

Wasn't CNN also the network that reported the Affordable Care Act was found to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, when the opposite was true? Or was that Fox News? How much slack are people going to give these networks when they consistently put out bad information?

IMO John King should be fired for reporting racially insensitive information on an unnamed suspect.

EXACTLY! Why does anyone listen to the absolutely horrible journalism reported by news agencies. You are totally right in saying they have to be the first to report so "everyone" will watch their network. However , no ones talks about when they report it wrong, that it's ok to do that. All are hungry for the "news" and not the facts. Seen waaaaay too often journalists trying to get ahead to be the first to report. I am one who refuses to watch the trash or listen to it.
I do hope they find the source of the issue soon.

I have to agree. The greediness to try to scoop yesterday at the very least could have screwed up the efforts of the people trying to capture these evil people.

I was appalled by everyone but MSNBC yesterday because all of them but MSNBC did NOT vette the accuracy of what they were reporting about the arrest and then MSNBC lost points to me late in the evening because they aired all of the other networks who were doing it all wrong. It has always been kind of a "gentlemans agreement" that one network does not take down it's competition publicly.

I don't much watch MSNBC or Fox because I just hate the constant emphasis on politics and don't agree much with either a lot of the time. I get very annoyed when I will click on for breaking news and am subjected to how I am supposed to think by both of the leaders in political reporting. Politics is to me a dirty business with not too many heros.

I try really hard to form my own opinions and last night both sides of the aisle were really getting on my nerves.

Today we are faced with another issue. What is happening near Waco so near the anniversary time of the Waco disaster?

I am not much into conspiracy theories but I am feeling just a little paranoid this morning.

I hope I am wrong.

But since we are the older and wiser segment of the population on this forum, I beg you all to do what we do best and show our wisdom based on our patience and insight. Let's stop being so quick to jump on each other and I very much include myself in this. I have been way too hot at comments made the last couple of days.

Lets lead the world in good example, we are supposed to have accrued knowledge over time.

Hugs to all of you. This has been an ugly last few days for the U.S. and the world.

I agree, MSNBC or Fox are the two worst of all the cable news followed in a close third by CNN. Newspapers are not any better. You are better off waiting about a week after each story breaks and they all get their lies in the same column. If MSNBC and Fox say it the same way, you may very well have the real story, but if they do not, they very well could BOTH still be lying for ratings. Do your research.

Not sure if I agree with the addition. If you or I pass on information we heard, it could be considered gossip or just an honest mistake. When some one like MSNBC or FOX pass on information that is wrong, that is more than a simple mistake. It is their Job and Responsibility to check and verify the accuracy of what they are about to report to millions of people.

Typically, we only watch the evening news; first ABC with either Diane Sawyer or David Muir (whom we prefer as he speaks faster and gets a lot more news in)....followed by Scott Pelley on CBS for his half hour evening national news. He's calm and composed and reminiscent of the old time journalists.

CNN was driving us nuts the other day.......with the constant repetition; then the inaccuracies as everyone else has mentioned........but they were just trying to keep the viewers hooked..........FOX is boring.

We get two CNN's......the other being HLN which is the station I call the "talking heads" with all the women news readers.........they are most annoying with their "pause" button since COURT T.V. or IN SESSION was taken off and it became TRU TV. Rarely do we watch trials, but we did watch the entire Casey Anthony trial.........and most recently were watching the Jodi Arias trial............until In Session was switched over to CNN's HLN channel.........and one guy, whose name escapes me, does so much chatter when all people want to do is "follow the testimony". WE have given up on that trial until the closing arguments next week.

Does CNN realize how bad they truly are???? Granted, for breaking news or in times of emergency, for people traveling or whatnot........they are there with the news.
I guess that's what it originally was intended for.
Not for us to be glued to the "news" of the day when a disaster strikes.

I forego all the TV news channels these days, which I call 'Pravda', and head straight to the internet to seek out a variety of sources. ALL sources have an agenda, so you gotta weed through it all to find the facts.

Naturally, this is the absolute best idea because as everyone knows, you can't put anything on the Internet if it is not true. I heard that on the Internet. Got to go now, I am meeting my date that I met on the Internet. A French model! :evil6:

Pete Williams, the NBC and MSNBC legal correspondent, NEVER said yesterday that an arrest had been made even while CNN, Fox, and the Associated Press were reporting that an arrest had been made. CNN's John King even described the unknown assailant in a racially insensitive way.

A memorial service for the victims will be held in Boston in just over an hour with President Obama and the First Lady attending. Also attending will be former Massachusetts Governors Mitt Romney, Michael Dukakis, Bill Weld, and Jane Swift.

Thanks for the update. Wikipedia looks more credible than some of the news sources for these current events kind of stories. This is one of the biggest stories this year so you can expect the media to get extremely competitive about who breaks it. It does seem that they care more about which horse gets out of the gate first, however, than about what horse finishes first. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Marathon_bombings
