OK...I finally did it...Permanent Eyebrows..Amazing ..love them..I certainly did lots of research before having this done..checked on a few technician in our area even went to Orlando and spoke to a few but never got the right "vibe" from any of them. Recently I saw an ad in The Daily Sun for New Brow..New You...Licensed Aesthetician...KIM FORSBERG...she offers a free complimentary consultation..so I called her and while on the phone they told me she was giving $100 off permanent make-up treatment..so that was a treat.
Kim is very professional and very knowledgeable in her field. I finally got that good "vibe" I have been looking for..after all it is your face your dealing with. Kim uses a very different technique check out her web page: wwwthismakeupgirl.com
I highly recommend Kim Forsberg for permanent make-up by the way she's located here in The Villages.

The eyebrow pencil that I have used for years by Laura Mercier has been discontinued and she now has a new one and it's not the same..so if anyone has permanent eye brows and can recommend the person who did them in our area I would be extremely grateful..my first tatoo..yipee!!!

There are quite a few Laura Mercier eyebrow pencils for sale on Ebay. Many times when product is discontinued, it ends up on Ebay. Good luck!

I had mine done 3 years ago by Sherri at Cal's in Spanish Springs. She was awesome and they still look great. It was the best money I ever spent as my face sweats so bad (the only part of me that sweats) and my eyebrows would just slide right off with what I used before getting them tattooed! They were my first and only tattoo and it didn't hurt. I highly recommend having it done.

Another vote for Sharie Gardner at Cal's Barbershop in Spanish Springs. I go about every couple of years for a touch up, so they always look great. She also did my eyeliner, above and below my eyes. She does a good job and is a very nice person.

I am having mine done this morning by Sherri. What will I look like immediately after? Will there be blood, swelling, will I have to stay home for a period of time so no one will see me? I guess I should have asked these questions before I decided to have it done.

One additional question. The procedure itself costs $199.00. What would be an appropriate tip for this, or do you think a tip is required at all?

I'm interested in knowing what the end product looks like after Sherri has done your brows. Do your brows look "feathery" or are they more of a "line" over your eye?

I would definitely tip, as I do my hairdresser or nail tech. The amount of tip depends on the job and how happy I am with the service. I usually tip 20% if I am totally satisfied and then if not, it goes down from there. Sound like a lot of people are happy with the quality of work performed by this individual.

How does the eyeliner look? I don't know anyone who has had this done so I'm curious as to how it looks. And how much did it cost? Are you able to post a pic of your eyes for me to see....? :)

Great discussion! I too have had thoughts of doing this but still have some brow left...the wider part up to the "peak". So would she shave this or integrate the tattoo with it. Another question would be, gravity takes it's toll as we age so would this end up doing that as well?? I'd love to hear comments from folks who've had this several years ago...and if they're still happy. Is the $199.00 pretty standard or should one shop around?

Cals at Spanish Springs will be having an open house on December 4th from 6-8 pm. Lots of information on the things that women are interested in. Sherri will be there and can answer questions about permanent tattooing . There will be hair stylists, jewelry, someone fitting women's jeans and I will be there discussing skin care, BOTOX and fillers. Appetizers and prizes. Please join us.

Yeah, but I high jacked a thread. Since I am doing natural hair which is WHITE WHITE... I prefer to think of it as platinum, my eyebrows are brown...were brown, and now they are kinda...disappearing.

and some of them are rearriving on my lower face.

I hope that girl who is disdainful of old-er people isn't reading this. She doesn't know that with misplaced eyebrows comes wisdom.

Always looking for better tweezers,
Gracie

Gracie, my hair is white-white, too. And the few eyebrows that do grow are coming in white and wirey. I pull them out as they grow. That's why I'm getting my eyebrows done. I wonder what happens afterward, if my own eyebrows continue to grow. I should have asked all of this. Oh well!

I cannot imagine having anyone do a tattoo so close to my eyeball, especially if it hurts. Do they do allergy testing first?

I searched for this thread as I have had eyebrows and eyeliner for some 8+ yrs now and was wondering if i should get touch ups before moving or after....

My original gal moved to Dallas, so I am looking for someone local
before we move.

I appreciate all the names of the people local to TV, in case I just can't find someone before our move.

In my case, the eyeliner has been fantastic!!! Love waking up with some color. The eyebrows also great.

I "was" a natural redhead and had very fair-blonde ish eyebrows. One I had them tatooed, they were visible and "framed" my eyes nicely.

They do appear darker for the first 2 weeks and fade a bit as the skin sloughs off, as expected after the procedure. My artist had me come back in 2 months for touch up and then at 2 yrs. Her work was very natural. No look of heavy eyebrow pencil (magic marker) at all.

She works with many alopecia patients who have lost all their hair and her work was beautiful!!

You should find someone there (Sherry, Linda or Judy are the names I have made note of) who can show you before and afters. You can then see what their style is.

Most of the tattoo guns they use now for permanent cosmetics are very good with light strokes that resemble individual hairs.

Ask lots of questions!!! I know I will. And i won't mind the drive to Orlando to find the right person.....

I did something I never thought I would do in a million years and had my brows done. I went to Cal's in December, then had the touchup done a couple of days ago. Shari did an EXCELLENT job, but I was VERY particular about it all, because they are MY brows that I will have to live with. My good friends didn't notice, when I told my daughters I had a 2 tattoos, they kept asking "where, where"? My husband still doesn't know. Therefore, all is well, and a complete success. Love them!

I have considered having my eyebrows done and this thread ALMOST convinced me to go to Cals in SS. But the I found this website with before and after pictures and I got scared again. A lot of these people looked better before. IMO.
It seems like the permanent eyebrows are way too dark in most cases. It's about 4 minutes. Click the arrows on the bottom right when faces appear to enlarge for more details.

Look around you. You will see lots of tattooed eyebrows. They are noticeable. I see them everywhere I go.` They look too dark when first done and then fade and look more natural. I almost told my friend that she put on too much eyebrow pencil and then she told me she had a tattoo. I had never heard of it before, but now I frequently see them. Not for me, however.

My sister in law had hers done about 18 years ago. They looking a purplish blue, especially when in the daylight. She has had them "enhanced" over the years....but they still look blue. She has black died hair. She will have a very unnatural look if she ever decides to let her hair go to its natural color. I'm gonna assume that the quality and technology has improved since then, but I don't get why they can't get a more natural color on hers. Hers is very crass looking with tattooed eyeliner (very thick), tattooed bright red lips, eyelashes,....even the top eyeliner covers her whole lid. I could go on and on about the Brazilian facelift and all the liposuction and implants...but I won't.

Bottom line ladies......what I am basically saying is.....don't go overboard and don't forget, it really is permanent. If you decide to let your hair go natural...you will still have the dark brows. Everyone is different and I'm sure whatever you decide is the right decision for you.

yikes!!!!!

Why did you write Yikes! ? Are we looking at the same photos? I think the women look great. The new brows made a huge improvement on finishing a look that focuses on the beautiful eyes of each person.

They are not permanent and always appear much darker right after you have the procedure done. Within 1 week the scabs will be massaged away and the color tones down immensely. And as time goes on the color will fade and then it's time to have a touch up (usually in 1.5-2 years).

If the color is still too dark after a period of time, any type of anti-aging products will fade the color more quickly.

I had my brows and eyeliner done a few years ago and have continued with touch ups for the brows but not the eyeliner.

If done by a skilled professional (and do your due diligence), you will love them.

Double Yikes! I agree with Rayschic. I think a lot of these people looked better before the eyebrow tattoos. In almost all cases, I think the "new" eyebrows were harsh and not flattering at all.

I also watched another video on the Youtube link posted by Rayschic. It was an instructional video given by someone who performs the procedure. It showed her performing the whole process. Yikes again.

But I did get a PM from a conservative friend who had the procedure and loves the results.

Bare, you look dark haired.....maybe it would work for you. I'm white haired and light skin....practically NO eyebrows, but it's never bothered me. (But I also don't wear makeup) I'm just too afraid to do something permanent like this. As long as you do your homework and see clients in person that were done by the "artist" of choice.....you should be fine.

I had the eyeliner done too. Yes, hurt a little.

Do the people who perform these procedures at Cals and at Making Faces use any kind of a numbing cream first?

I suppose that someone could start the eyebrow tattoo procedure by having a lighter colour with not a lot of coverage. And then as confidence grew, it could be darkened if necessary. I see some people advertising "feather strokes" which sounds more natural, but perhaps they all use the same procedures.

Since Cals in SS is open to the public, can you actually watch the work in progress? Or is it done in a private room?

We are going on a cruise the week of Feb 1. The brows should be lightened a bit and we will take pictures. I will post then. I think I will be glad that I did this. I have always been a risk taker.

Looking forward to the pics. Have fun on your cruise.

I had mine done at Cal's a couple of months ago, and although I still cannot use the word 'tattoo', I couldn't be happier that I did it! Honestly, they look so natural that I sometimes have to remind myself when I look in the mirror. I would do it again and now I love the fact that I don't have to worry about the correct coloring, drawing it on, shaping them, etc.

I had my brows done this morning by Shari at Cal's. She used numbing cream and it didn't hurt. Yeah!!!! I was concerned about that. So far so good. She told me they will lighten about 50 percent in a couple of weeks. That should be perfect. I will let you all know in February. Shari was professional and has been doing this for 14 a years.

Here is the after picture that I had recently taken from our Cruise.

They look great! Did it hurt? I have wanted to do my brows and eyeliner for years now!

Having my brows done did not hurt. Numbing cream was used about 20 minutes before beginning the procedure.

Personally I will not consider eyebrow tattoo because 1) it's painful 2) it turns green after some time and you will definitely need a retouch 3) since it's permanent you cannot change your brow shape when it goes out of style and lastly 4) it doesn't look natural.

Eyebrows change color and turn green? I've never heard that before.

Yes...share the costs of this procedure. We have $300.00 from the place by Belk. I think I heard $199.00 at Cal's. What about the other places?? How much for the touch-ups??

I had it done 8 years ago ..it did fade after 7 years...had it done again. It didn't hurt and they never turned green. Just have your natural eyebrow shape and it will never go out of style. Lastly, if it doesn't look natural, it was done correctly.

I couldn't find my eyebrow makeup either but the girl at the cosmetics counter suggested using a dark brown eyeshadow on my brows and it works for me.

I contacted a person who does this and she said that it should be called "semi-permanent" because of the fading. I'm still on the fence...want to do it. Her cost includes the re-touch or whatever it's called but then after that you have to pay again. I'm wanting to talk to the gal at Cal's to see what she has to say about this. Do 'regular' tattoos fade? If this was a true tattoo...shouldn't it be good to go for life?

I also had mine done about 10 yrs ago and they have faded gradually over time. I will be looking for someone there to do mine. So Shari is on my short list!

Thanks! You do look great!

Hi guys,
Just wanted to say myself and my girlfriend went to Cals Barbour Shop and had our eyebrows done and what a fabulous job Sherri did. We are both so pleased. The shop couldn't have been friendlier and Sherri was very warm and professional. She applied numbing creme first and it just felt like getting your eyebrows plucked. I am a big wimp normally but this was easy. So if anyone out there is thinking about going. By all means go I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Sincerely
