I've heard it called a water retention lake so it doesn't have a name, but here it is on the map. Just off of Morse.

There's a rather large gator between the 3rd green and 4th tee at Redfish Run. At least he was basking on the bank Friday afternoon.

:undecided: Please just look and admire! By no means feed it or take small children and/or animals near the edge of the water. These animals were here long before we were and their natural habitats are being taken away everyday! So, Please let this creature live in peace...!!! Don't do anything that would sign it's death sentence....!:icon_wink:

You need to get out and play some golf. I played Pelican behind Cane Garden yesterday and saw about a 5' gator in shallow water near the bank, I think it was the 3rd hole. Last Friday I played the new executive Palmetto, that's on 466A near the new Sweetbay that's being built. He was a small one but was on the grass until I got about 25' away, then he jumped in the water and emerged about 30' out in less than a second.

A good place is on the Cane Garden course, the Alamanda 9 around the 5th and 6th holes there are two lakes connected and I always see at least one or two gators in those ponds. Our best count was a round we played last summer we saw 5 gators in those two ponds. That would be just south of St. Charles between Buena Vista and Baileys Trail where the course crosses St. Charles.

There is a little cutie that I see occasionally in the pond by Palmer Legends along the Buena Vista Blvd cart path. Last time he was working on his tan laying on the little island that is there.

You're right about the executives, these last two times out were the first I've seen gators on an executive in a long time. I did see one on Turtle Mound about six months ago. The championship courses I haven't played any since last October, I can't afford these winter rates, but come May 1st I'll be back out there for $19 a round. Usually Cane Garden has always been a good place and sometimes at Palmer. On the putting green nearest to the Cane Club club house there is a big pond to the left, there is one that hangs out in that pond besides the two ponds I mentioned earlier on Alamanda.

1. The retention pond on Buena Vista just before the Riley Grove starters shack. Often seen on the small island or on the far bank. Also on the bank on the right near the homes.

2. On the south side of the 466 cart path between Laurel Manor and Bridgeport of Laurel valley. It is between the 6th & 7th hole on Palmer's Laurel Valley 9.

3. Just before you start across the Morse Bridge heading north there is a small pond on the right. One often spotted on the far bank. This is just as the roundabout by pass meets up with the road coming from the roundabout.

4. The big pond / lake on the Turtle Mound golf course. From the cart path it can be spotted on almost any bank. I have seen it many times in front of the sand trap on the 4th hole. But often times can be anywhere around the pond / lake.

5. The pond east of the new assisted living facility on 466a. At times it will be on the drain pipe getting some sun.

6. The pond on the north side of Odell Circle between the Duval mail station and the Buena Vista gate. There is a small island near the east end and it is often found there. You need to be either in a golf cart, walking on the north side of the road or in a high profile vehicle to see it.

When I am looking for gators it is almost always on a course (only golf the executives) and got lucky today on the 6th hole of Palmetto - made par and saw a gator too! Good day out there - not sure if the par or the gator got me more excited.

Oh yeah, she has quite a routine. Each morning around 10, she swims to the north end of the pond and each afternoon around 5, she swims back to the other end. Not sure why she does this, but it's a joy to watch from the lanai.
My son actually went near the edge of the water to take pictures one time when she was about 20 yards from shore. When she saw him, she dipped under and I was hollering for him to get away from the edge! She resurfaced out in the middle, so she wants nothing to do with humans, fortunately.

I took it with a cell phone while floating on my raft!
Actually, in my business, I have to have some really great zoom. My photography skills stink, but with enough zoom...
We were actually testing this zoom lens while people on the other side of that body of water were having a party. We were able to zoom in close enough to read the name tags. That was from more than 150 yards. Lens passed the test!
