Can anyone recommend a company to provide good termite protection service?

I'm happy with Dean's. For the same annual fee, they inspect and re-treat every year whereas others just inspect.

Stellar does it all, and fairly well, for a fair price.

I've heard that it cost $500 for the initial treatment and then it's $100-$125 per year after that. Do the follow up visit include inspection only? Also is there some kind of warranty? If you end up with termite damage do they pay for the repairs?

We use Massey. They treated all wood framing over garage, and perimeter of house. One time application for inside. They inspect each, year inside an out. Yes, there is a yearly fee for it. We decided to go for it because if we ever wanted to sell, there may be an issue of termite protection, which we can safely answer it's been done and have yearly inspections.

Did you ever get an anwer to your questions? I'm wondering the same thing. $99/year gets an inspection, but what if damage shows up somewhere down the line. Was also advised should retreat every 5 years at a cost of approx. $450. Any thoughts?

We use Deans for everything - call them and then relax. They are very professional and are very responsive to customers.

Can't relax till I understand how this works. I believe what I have figured out is you need to be retreated every 5 years at which point a contract is renewed and they will cover any new termite damage. Problem is proving it is new damage - by the time the problem we had was uncovered in Jacksonville Florida it ended up costing us $25k to have the repairs done. Termite service said "pre-existing" not covered!

Two months ago we had Stellar do our termite control service using the treatment product Termidor. It cost $595 for the treatment and each renewal will be $99. To keep the contract intact, you must have a full termite treatment every 5th year at the going rate.

We previously had Massey, but I don't know what a full treatment costs. However, I do know what the annual renewal fee is as we recevied a notice just before we switched. The annual termite fee was indicated as $124.

Although I can't remember the treatment product Massey used any longer, IIRC, I can tell you that it was not the same product Stellar uses. When I questioned Stellar as to why Termidor instead of product x, I was told that Termidor was the better of the two products, and it's the best treatment on the market!

This whole process may be a bit mind boggling, but I can guarantee you one thing.... it will in no way harm you ability to play the guitar! :a20:

Massey has been great to work with at our place.

Interesting thought - we moved in less than a year ago and switched to Massey for all services. Our lawn now is in terrible shape and we are about to lose a very expensive European Fan Palm because of fungus and scale. Don't know what the deal is, but not happy. If you call them they will send someone out to treat the problem, kind of sort of, but they should be proactive not reactive to these issues. Getting ready to fire them and switch to Bates who use to treat the yard before we moved in and it was lush! I would really be interested in hearing from someone who has dealt with a termit problem with them!
