View Full Version : White Aluminum
We're thinking of using White's Aluminum to enclose our lanai and add a birdcage. How do people feel who have used them?

Very interested in the answers. Had a rep over today. He presented a sensible configuration at a sensible price. Several other contractors have listened to what we want, but then sent in proposals for something different, which drove up the price.

I also live in the fishbowl. Had our lanai glass enclosed last Aug. Whites did a great job, no problems and was done in the time frame they stated. also reasonable price.

Would like to see it, if that's OK. Will send you a personal message.

We used Adrian Lucas Aluminum / Ocala / 352-867-8440 or 1-800-780-8204
It was constructed in 2003 and at that time their price was considerably less than any one we got estimates from.

We signed a contract with White Alum on 12/28/12 to enclose our Lanai with glass. It was to take 6 weeks. We are at week 13 and still not done. They do not return phone calls. Took them 11 weeks to finish windows but still missing a little seal at the top of one set of windows. They do not return phone calls. I am waiting for them to call for their final payment. Then maybe I can get that seal. They have about 20 Sub contractors. Some are good and some are real bad. I would not use them again.:(

Since they were highly recommended by several TOTV posters we used White Aluminum to enclose our Lanai and add a Birdcage. They did a very poor job. There were many problems with the construction and it took several weeks longer than they had estimated and it was not due to weather delays. After we emailed the President of the company with attached pictures of the poor work it was finally corrected. I would not recommend White Aluminum based on our experience.

Yikes. Better to know that now. I just looked at one successful job. But I guess things can go wrong from time to time.

After a very bad experience, some outlined in others above, I would not recommend them to build anything.

White did both of our lanais and they did an excellent job on both. The gentleman that did the install was VERY detail oriented. Would absolutely use them again.

Apparently if you get the "good subcontractor" they do nice work. They have about 20+ subcontractors. How do you get the "good one"?. They were out about 4 times trying to fix the leaks. I finally gave up and caulked the leak my self. They called a week ago and left a message asking for the final payment. When I called back, I had to leave a message stating I will pay in full when they install the last little window seal. It took them one week to call me back. I think they are coming Monday to complete. Their sales person is very good and responsive, but he does not install or do repairs.
Not easy to talk to a human or get a call back. My neighbor made the comment that the phones must ring in only and that they can not call out! :cus:

We used Brian Terry Vinyl to enclose our Lanai with glass sliders and build a bird cage which encompassed a grass area inside the bird cage for our two dogs. Excellent workmanship, excellent communication, we are very happy. Just not there full time to enjoy it yet! They even completed the job and then waited five weeks for us to return to inspect the job and then pay. We didn't pay a single dime up front.
Highly recommended!

Update: White Alum completed job on Mon 4/29. With regrets I paid in full yesterday 5/1. It took them 18 weeks to complete a 6 week job. No apology, but they did admit some of the sub contractors are not very good. Why would they keep them?

We used them to install FL low-E windows in lanai....it took about 11 wks to get job completed. Among the other problems, we had problems with the door...measuremens were wrong so that took additional 10 days. Never returned our phone calls. We're happy with the finished project, but probably would not have them again.

We just found another leak. I caulked it myself. If it still leaks I will start the process of trying to get them to fix it.

The screws holding the bottom of the lanai are rusting apart and popping up after about seven years. Any suggestion for repairs?
