What are the pros/cons of using Acrylic vs. Epoxy coating of garage flooring?

I would not do either one. IMO, never paint (coat) concrete! I have owned some homes that where it was done by the previous home owner.

It will eventually chip and flake off. Save yourself a future headache.

Some people use concrete stain. I have not done it myself.

What are you hoping to accomplish with it?

There is no comparison, It's epoxy all the way. nothing touches it, oils etc just wipe up.

I like the epoxy also. Gives the floor a nice surface and very attractive.

I have read here before that one of them is slippery when it gets wet. Not sure if that is acrylic or epoxy. ??

Anybody reading this msg. done acrylic? Just want to make sure I hear pros/cons of each. Which one is more durable (longer lasting before it may turn flaky, if that should occur as one responder said.).

This is another option...Racedeck Flooring. Nothing can harm it; not
Battery acid, oil, gas...nothing. Just wipe off with damp cloth and go.
This is my 2nd garage floor with it and would never have anything else.

I just did my myself expoxy, bought the kit at lowes took me 4 days with drying time and all, you can come look if you like. The kit came with a bag of some thing like sand you can add too the clear sealer to make it skid proof.

I have a garage workshop where I am likely to use glues and solvents that would damage acrylic stains and sealers. So I chose 2-part epoxy for both base and topcoat. Used Woody from Superior concrete coatings. Was the most expensive. It's about a year old, and we are very happy with it. Not slippery when wet, better than I expected.

However, all of my neighbors have had either all acrylic stain and top coat, or 2-part epoxy and acrylic top coat, and they are happy too.

We are about to finish up an amazing epoxy floor with Go Concrete... They are doing a custom design with "swoosh's" in the epoxy in different colors. As soon as David with Go Concrete sends me photos, I will post them here. The floor looks amazing, so far!!!

Agreed, Astro Crete has done driveways and garage floors for me and Tony has been in the business for over 25 years and knows what products work the best for your needs. 813-***-6605

Gene...Check out SwissTrax floor system. They have several styles of tiles that all snap in place without adhesives. Specifically, checkout the RibTrax...it is made of recycled plastics and will support 20,000 lbs per square inch. It is vented and debris falls through and can be cleaned up with a shop vac. More importantly, the vents/slots allow evaporation if it gets wet...no mold. I have had this floor installed in my Colorado home and will be installing one in TV once I get there full time in Aug.

Check it out, I think you will like it! Also, many colors.

Can you dumb this down for me? I'm used to a garage with stains from motor oil, paint stains, animal leavings, etc. Will epoxy fix all this?

I have a 660 sq ft garage here in CO and was quoted $2800 for acrylic w/ no guarantee against peeling from hot tires and oil. My swisstrax floor was $1700 shipped to my front door (garage) and it took me all of 3 hours to install by myself which included trimming the tiles on the final wall. Very easy! I ordered mine at a Jackson-Barrett car auction in West Palm so I got the auction special so cost could be a bit more ordered off their website. But as you know our garages in TV are much smaller so cost will be less.

I will try to attch a photo of my floor in CO.

Thanks. I have an epoxy coating that has been peeling for years.

If I could remove it easily, I would do it.

That might be good option to consider.
