Hi All,

I am struggling with which Cable Company to sign up with. If I want the Villages TV channels, then I have to have Comcast... However, Brighthouse seems to be the one that most people really love (and my hubbie loves their super high speed internet!)...

Is it a big deal to not get the Villages TV Channel? Will I feel like I'm missing out on all the good things happening around our magical place?

Thanks for your opinions! I so appreciate it!

If you get the newspaper you will be delivered a fairly complete schedule in each Thursday's edition. If not you can pick it up at any rec center. Short answer, No.

I never had it. You can hear the radio at public places, read the paper.

I recommend getting Bighthouse and subscribing to The Daily Sun for activities. I was also told Brighthouse is working with the powers to be to hopefully carry that channel someday. It is probably a matter of numbers and as more homes are built it may come true. Just my opinion. Best wishes in your new home.

If you intend to rent your house out in the winter it is a big deal for the people who has never been to TV's before...I have had people ask if I provided that service. If you don't intend to do that then it is no big deal ...

We had that t.v. channel for the five weeks we were there.......never really made an attempt to watch it (after seeing it for the first few times) as it was very repetititve...........the daily newspaper was at our door early each morning and was a wealth of information about all the goings on in The Villages..........so I would say that we would not need it. We would get Direct TV / satellite dish. We've had Comcast up here, but switched to Direct TV and prefer it.

Just watched a good movie with Sean Penn about the life of gangster Mickey Cohen in Los Angeles back in 1949, etc. "GANGSTER SQUAD".
Direct TV has great packages; it's much more comfortable to watch these movies on our big screen from our reclining chairs........then at theatre.

For daily info.........you can count on THE VILLAGES daily newspaper.
We did. It was great for local goings on.

The Villages TV channel is irrelevant in our home until they broadcast in High Definition. It's 2013, they haven't sold analog TVs for 10 years. Get with the program people.

The times I have rented in TV, each rental home has had access to The Villages TV channel. I would watch it for maybe 20 minutes twice a day, but found it to be very repetitive as was posted by Senior Citizen. I much more enjoy reading the Daily Sun, and when a daily delivery is provided by the landlord, that is a plus. If not, I would just go to the nearest postal station and buy a Daily Sun from the vending machine each day.

And I am looking forward to reading the Daily Sun again when I return to TV in 19 days! :pepper2:

As always, my new Villager Neighbors come through with so much helpful advice!

Based on what I am reading, Brighthouse is the way to go.

Thanks so much!!

Brighthouse is the best. I have it in my other home on the eastcoast. Sadly, they do not have Brighthouse north of 466.

Channel 2 is GREAT; if you can't read the paper! Picture a high school sophomore journalism class project to broadcast the latest happenings at TV High School - there you have WVLG TV.

Can you get Brighthouse in all of the Villages? If not where is it not available. Thanks for any help on this before I purchase a home.

Saw TV's channel when renting. It's just a highlight of what's in Rec. news available online and free hardcopy at regional centers. I'm a Direct TV fan as a permanent resident and haven't thought twice about TV's channel.

If you have Debbie Brainerd's email address-Comcast rep-she is very responsive to any problems you have.I emailed her one Sunday morning and she had tech there that afternoon to solve problem. One time she answered my email while on her vacation. The tech who came even gave me his private phone number to call him directly whenever I have a problem.I am though dreading the rates when my one year bundle promotion is up.They will negotiate with you though when promotions are up.
