I was driving home from a sleep study at 5:30 this morning and 6 police cars with their lights flashing and 2 rescue vehicles were in the parking lot of the swimming pool. There was 1 car at the mailbox parking and a man was standing outside his car.
I didn't see any police moving around or see if they were in or out of their cars.
Everyone stay safe and think safety even if we live in 'the bubble'.
Make it a great Friday!!!!

Lets not panic. This could have been a false alarm. Wait for the facts before selling your house.

If it is attached to your car key, it could cost from 3 to 6 hundred dollars to replace it. For my car, it is only a 285 dollar replacement cost.

At 5:45 this morning I was woken up by the noise of a helicopter. So I go outside to get the newspaper and the copter came back over my house. Its searchlight was sweeping back and forth over the ground and when it lighted me up it was bright enough to blind me. The light seemed to pause over me for a second or two, then went back to searching.
The copter had an 'odd' noise to it, didn't sound like the usual life-flight helicopter that operates out of Wildwood.

Spoke with an offical at the scene. There was a male victim of a gun shot. He wouldn't say or didn't know if it was self inflicted or a shooting, nor did he say if the person was alive. The area by the shooting was blocked off as they were waiting for a clean up crew.In looking at the scene and the fact there was very little activity there I would guess the victim is alive as there was no active investigation and I was there about 7:30.AM. I'm only reporting what I was told and saw.

It will not be in the paper if it was a suicide. They do not print information about suicides.

There was a helicopter ( life Flight) that landed in the are of the Firehouse on Bonita or on the fairway on Kenya # 6 at 5:45 this morning. It was on the ground for a short time then took off. ( Not exactly positive of the exact landing are but in this general area)

The paper may not specifically say suicide in the story but they have reported the events. I can recall a couple of them in the past year or so that were in the paper and were suicides.

Good going cub reporters we need you because the Daily sun certainly will not respond quickly or completely.
so sad to hear about the event though. My best friend put a gun to his temple. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Every moment of life is precious and we should all embrace it.

So sad. One never knows about another's life. Silent drama all around us.

I have no knowledge of the specifics, but to be fair, not all self inflicted gunshots are suicide attempts. Sometimes they are accidental, poor handling of a weapon. The article does say admitted to a hospital which suggests that the person was alive at the time of arrival.

I agree with your entire post. Your last sentence in particular is so very true.
Also, cannot understand the "doubting Thomases"......whenever someone posts a true fact with regard to police presence....etc. in The Villages.
p.s.
We've lived in a very safe town where we've raised our family for the past 43 years.....and we read our morning newspaper which does list any "crime" happenings.
People have a "need to know" the facts. Pure and simple. Awhile back I mentioned that we were a very safe town, practically with NO CRIME until gangs from the city......meaning N.Y.C. started infiltrating Vermont and selling drugs...............our cops are on the ball and we are proud of them. Someone had made a comment about the ones from the city. Well, that's where they came from. It's a fact of life that no sugar coating can take away............our police just had a massive "sweep" about a month ago and exposed a lot of these creeps........who were not born here, are not what Vermont used to be, that's for sure. Citizens have a right to know everything that is going on in their town...............not just good news.

Close, but I must interject that in some cases, persons given the news that they have only X months or days to live and they will suffer in great pain turn to self relief like suicide to ease their passing. Without a Death with Dignity Law in Florida, suicide is the only option to months of painful suffering.
Also, if we had a Death with Dignity Law, a person contemplating suicide might be identified and treated when being interviewed about his/her request for Death with Dignity. Give people the option of Death with Dignity could very well save their life.

Depending on the newspaper's policy and perhaps local customs some butobit's list the cause of death while others prefer to leave that fact out. I can argue for both sides of this issue but personally I feel being aware of the cause makes it easier when visiting the family.

Some families do not wish that information to be public.
I respect the way The Daily Sun handled it.
They reported it accurately.

It is all very sad. For whatever reason he did it, I hope he found the peace he was looking for. It will be very hard for those he left behind to accept this. Enjoy every day, as it is the only one you have. A tragedy all around.

Yes, that is true. The # one and second age groups that have the highest rate of suicides are seniors and adolescents.
