Is there anyone that lives in TV from Phoenix AZ? My wife and I currently live in Phoenix.WE are making our second trip to TV and are considering moving there full time. We would like to know how the summers are there. We want to compare summers there to here which are dry and very HOT HOT HOT. We hear that the the summers are hot and humid there. Would like any feedback.

I think you'll find the Florida summers humid, but not nearly the high temps that you have in Phoenix at the same time of year. Average high in Phoenix in July and August is 104-106, while in Florida the average high is 80-85 or so.

I've never been to AZ, but I've been to Las Vegas/Henderson, NV several times, and I'm from the Louisville, TN area. I've gotten to know quite a few locals around the Wildwood & Oxford area, and I think they'd all echo my opinion: hot & humid. You won't see temperatures like you will in the desert, the humidity keeps that down, but you will see mid- to even occasionally high-90s. Its just a different sensation than the dry desert heat.

Not exactly from AZ, but I did live in Southern CA so know dry conditions. Moving here was an adjustment without a doubt, but it is one that many have made. Central Florida is not as humid as areas south of here, but even with higher humidity levels and temps sometimes in the 90's, you might still find it more tolerable than the high heat of AZ. If you find the summer to be warm here, you just do things indoors.....much as you might be doing in AZ. One thing you might find a bit different.....sweat....in lower humidity levels water evaporation through your skin isn't noticeable ....not a good thing. Here you'll at least be able to notice that particular biological process....:D

My friends from AZ always vacation in the mountains each summer...they live near Phoenix and the heat starts to get to them after a short while. Here you'll find so much to do, and not necessarily in the heat and humidity, but in the nice atmosphere of all the wonderfully air-conditioned buildings that make up The Villages.

We lived in Las Cruces NM and Brenda Arizona (near Quartzite and the Cali border) and I can honestly say the hottest days in July we experienced in Brenda were much worse than the hottest days in TV in Florida The biggest difference I found is the desert cools down at night - Florida - not so much. Come in August and see how it feels to you. Only you can judge the difference for yourself.

The humidity is the worst here. That's why there's so much mold everywhere/ Some mornings when you first walk outside, it's like walking into a wet dishrag.

Many of the native central Floridians I have known over the last 40 years leave for the summer. Some families have homes they have owned for generations in the mountains of North Carolina. Others own motorhomes and frequent various northern destinations.

Hot and humid is very different than hot and dry. Please try it before you buy it. Visit in August.

Twenty plus years ago my son lived in Mesa, AZ. One year they experienced 186 consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 100 degrees fahrenheit. I remember that at times it was too hot for planes to take off and land at PHX.

A couple I know in Mesa have a summer home in Idaho to escape the summer heat.

I think in both communities it is the length of the hot period of the year that is draining. Many northern regions may get as hot or hotter but not for as long.

We're not sure yet. That is why we are visiting TV again. We know the summers are hot and humid, but they still can't be as bad as the summers here. Night temps. rarely fall below 90 degrees. Days get as hot as 115 to 120.

Not sure where you live to say "...so much mold everywhere..."
We have been here 9 years and I haven't seen mold anywhere.

Lived and worked in Phoenix many many years and the heat seems to last longer and longer each year. We've been in Florida for 6 years and TV since September. I tolerated the heat in Phoenix better than the high humidity here. If Arizona, Utah, Colorado or New Mexico had a place exactly like TV, then we would be back out there in a flash. It is also much buggier here than Phoenix. I would have loved it if a place like Prescott, Santa Fe or Sedona had a development like TV. So although we are physically here, our hearts are definitely in the West. Nothing will beat the beauty of the West. But you won't find a better development to live in than TV, so here we are and will die in place. Everything in life is a compromise, so it just depends on what you are willing to compromise on. Come, spend a summer here.............then you decide.

You are talking about a differnet type of "HOT" in Arizonia. During our visits to AZ we could not stand the 115-120 degree heat...humidity or no humidity...it was HOT...not only the air temp but the car, after sitting in the sun, was almost non-driveable, the dashboards would crack etc. The hottest it has gotten in tv during the past 5 years has been 97 but it is constantly in the low-mid 90s during the summer days. Comming from VA, we have found the day time temps more to our liking here in TV. ...in fact the Mid Atlantic states have had otte temps thna florida the past few summers..but as they say it stays hotter longer here in FL (6 months instead of 3).

Bottom line its all what you expect and able to live with. We can easily adjust our "summer" life style here in TV to accomodate any heat issue. USe the pool more, play golf early or later, visit more Ac'd stores or movies.

One thing we realy cant do in TV is "fry an egg on the side walk" as you can in AZ when its 115 degrres outside.

Coming from Kansas City the humidity there was greater than what we have in Central Florida.

If people power wash their house once or twice a year you don't get any mold. But I had mold on my house in Kansas City that had to be rinsed off too.

I prefer not to golf during the hotter time of the day. It's a personal preference.

It's greener here than Phoenix and we don't have dust storms. It also doesn't flood the streets when it rains.

My take on it is this. August at three in the afternoon in full sun in Arizona is like breathing air in front of an open oven door that is on. August at three in the afternoon in full sun in central Florida is like breathing air inside of a steam shower on hot.

We too live in the Kansas City area and Connie is correct. It is at least as humid here in the summer, and we have somewhat hotter extremes. For example, we had 15 consecutive days last summer with highs over 100 degrees, while friends tell me that 100 degree temps are very rare in TV. Hot weather doesn't keep me from working outside or playing golf during the heat of the day, so I don't anticipate I would have a problem with summers in TV. As others have said the heat in the Phoenix area is much different, however please don't try to convince me that 110 with low humidity is comfortable - it's hot!

Aussiemom I am so there with you - longing for The Villages in the southwest. Love, love, love the natural beauty there. Can you imagine this community in the high desert - surrounded by mountains and saguaro!!!

I found high humidity without high tempetures in upstate New York and felt it was hot.

I found high humidity and high tempetures in Richmond and thought it hotter

I found high humidity and high tempetures in Memphis even hotter

I have lived in Florida for six years and last summer was the first summer i found it unbearable....owing to high humidity.

for people like me the biggest factor is high humidity vis a vis high tempetures. and yes hot is hot but hot and humid is much worse.

cold is cold but with low humidity in Minneapolis area proper layering of clothing kept the cold out. Not so in upstate New York because the humidity (dampness went right to the bone.

I reall can't say one is hotter than the other. I think you have to visit in August for a month and see for yourself.

My cousin who lives in AZ said the weather is worse because it gets to 110 or 120 and all you do is go from A/C to A/C. I know that a couple of times in the northeast, it went to 100 with a 100% humidity, that is the worse scenario.

Most people will say tht you plan your day around the heat. You play golf at the beginning of the day or at the end when the sun is not as strong. Stay in A/C when it's the worst time of day

The manufactured homes have mold problems..drive through Silver Lake or Orange Blossom sometime. Some of the buildings and fence lines in SS have mold growth.
