I have sailed 8 times with princess. It's a great cruise line. As far as being bored ,they have tons of things to do on the ship while it is sailing. Every evening there is a schedule of activities placed on you stateroom door. Things are going on all day.

We are planning a cruise with Paul Gauguin sometime next year. It has a cruise that starts and ends in Papeete. The ship stops at several islands in the South Pacific. Just log on to Luxury Tahiti, Panama Canal, Caribbean and Europe Small Ship Cruises | Paul Gauguin Cruises (http://www.pgcruises.com) for more information.

we have sailed with Princess 8 or more times. It is our favorite. They are not top of the line but could be very close. They are very consistent in their quality.

We have friends who did the Hawaii round trip out of Los Angeles in October 2012. They said the days at sea were no problem as has been said lots to do (or not). They were surprised that it was as cool as it was at sea.

They very much enjoyed all the stops in Hawaii. They did not like the fact it was one day each stop....not enough time.

They said they would do it again but earlier in the year for better at sea weather.

For the Tahiti leg....my guess.....evenmore days at sea and too few days at ports.

We will be doing one or both in the coming year....for me it is all about going places that exclude the human herding experience called flying!!!!

ok I know everyone says when you ask them how do you keep busy on the ship?? (especially IF you have 5 or more cruise days) they say OH there is SO much to do. We have cruised severa times and possibly it's because I'm a villager and sooooo busy here with our schedules I look for all these activities on the ships and don't find them. I'm not into bingo or trivia. Don't gamble. so besides eating and reading What activites do you all refer to?? I have asked many people and they all say the SAME?? so much to do but they never tell me exactly what.?? But I will ask my fellow villagers here GIVE me examples please. ??? I would love to see some of our 2000 clubs on a ship. I know once I had one short dance lesson for 1/2 hr, never find classes. Only thing I do find is trivia (usually in a bar) or some game (usually in a bar) Enlighten me!! I want to go but am afraid I will be soooo bored especially after my typical day in villages, gym, then Qigong, then art, then belly dance, then country partner dance, then a photography class, then computer class, water aerobics, and that's only 1 day here. So what do you do on the ship all day besides eat, sit by pool (if you can get a chair) and possibly a bingo or trivia game?? Come on you villagers. You know how busy our schedule is here!! I love the activities. Just not seeing them on the 5 cruises we took so far?? What am I missing? Help me out here

We recently sailed to caribbean on Princess - 7 days. On the 3 sea days, they had a zumba class every morning, tai chi, miniature golf, line dance classes, mini seminars on health topics, yoga (have to pay), sauna and steam rooms, water aerobics, movies in the main theater in the afternoon, a good size exercise room with treadmills, etc. Of course, the usual bingo and trivia games. Entertainment all day in the Atrium. Lots to do!! Go and enjoy yourself!

do you think "human herding" isn't ALL those people on a cruise ship??? I can't even find a seat near a pool they are taken all the time??

To be honest I get a little bored during the "fun days at sea", that's why we try to find cruises that makes stops every day. We are going on a Southern Caribbean cruise with Princess next February which includes 2 full days at sea. We plan to read a lot and just enjoy each other company during that time.

I did 38 days circle pacific on another line years ago. I looked at the one you are mentioning and the 8 days return from Tahiti may be a bit long for you if you want something to do every minute. If you enjoy the lectures that are offered or the enrichment that is being set for that cruise you are in luck. But if the person they get to give talks or do classes is nothing you are interested in not so much. You have to be prepared to entertain yourself during the day if you are not a gambler or a sun worshiper. We had craft and painting classes on my cruise but the quality may not be there anymore. I have a friend who does art and craft classes on cruise ships, they are now making her pay for all the materials and making her pay for her husbands fare (at a reduced rate) So she is stopping because she can't offer a nice project under those conditions.

PS Also if your ship has art auctions beware they are a scam. The prices are outrageous and much higher than the same art in a gallery they use shills to drive up the price.

Thank you for the tips!! I am worried about the no of days on the ship. classes would be of interest to me if they offer quite a few. That would be fun. can't worship sun too much as the skin cancer is rapid. art classes would be fun - even just drawing and getting tips from an expert but I've never seen one offered.

My experience on 27 cruises, is on itineraries with a lot of sea days, the cruise director plans ahead and makes alot of activities available. Bridge lessons and ball room dancing lessons, just to name two that come to the top of my head. Some of the fun of cruising is to "get into" some of the silly things they do, like men's hairy chest contest, and newlywed game.

We did the Princess cruise from Honolulu and then over to Tahiti, with all the islands in between, etc. We stayed a few nights in Oahu and in Tahiti before and after. We were with friends so had companions to play with....if hubby didn't want to go on a whale watching tour, my friend would go with me. We did different things during the day...I liked bingo and exercising and reading by the pool. They would gamble or play bridge, etc. The ship we were on was very small but nice, but I think they sold it after our cruise and Princess is using a larger ship now for the same cruise. My friend had gone on Cruise Critic and hooked up with some other people going on our cruise so we all got together for a few cocktail parties and booked some of the same excursions. They seemed to know the best ones to take so it worked out great. They booked with Patrick in Bora Bora which I would greatly recommend. He has a web page which you can check out. He owns a private motu and served a great lunch there. That was the best excursion and it wasn't from Princess. It was a memorable cruise...but the air travel was soo long. We were on first class from Atlanta to Honolulu (upgraded with points) and that was great...but on the way from Tahiti we felt like sardines ...LAX was no picnic either.

Maybe it best if you just skip the cruise and stay in the villages if you seem to enjoy it so much, or just take a different cruise where you dock each day

We have been to Tahiti on Princess, but not from HI. We did a repositioning cruise from Sidney, Australia to San Francisco. Approximately 30 days. I would recommend this cruise to anyone.

Days at sea - we were concerned about this also, I think our longest back to back sea days was five. Yes, some things to do have already been mentioned that you enjoy doing. Another thing we do is post on the bulletin board what we enjoy doing and see if anyone else would like to join us.

We have always met other cruisers who have the same interest as ours, and we also tried things we have never done. Our days, like here in TV became full. Some of the things I tried were the craft classes, meditation, husband got very involved with Trivia (also met a lot of nice people through him), tried dancing, and sorry I do not recall what else we did.

One thing I did learn from going on this long cruise, that is for us, is that for most of our fellow passengers this was a short cruise. I learned a lot listening them tell of their expreriences.

Like you did in TV you created a fun filled day, that is what you will need to do on a cruse. We created a fun filled day for ourselves, fell into the rhythm of it, and did not want to leave the ship.
