New Rubber Flooring

We were shopping the other day looking at flooring and was considering going back to wood. It's softer, warmer, but less durable than tile. That's we saw the new rubber flooring and was amazed! It comes in the same lengths as wood and easier to put in. The advantages are amazing. We first thought of gym floors with it. Nope. You can get it to look like travertine tile, many types of wood floors, and is very durable, lasts longer, easier to maintain, can be used throughout the whole house, and best of all is much cheaper than wood and comparable to good tile. If it gets damaged, you can take iut the piece and replace it. it is being used in the Harley store in LSL. We were sold on the idea already.
Just wondered if anyone else heard of it, or has it now to get some feedback.

Sounds interesting. I'll have to take another look at the floor at the Harley store in LSL.

Is this a do it yourself project or does a professional installer need to do it? Should be comfortable to walk on.

We just talked about having it installed. But if you can lay engineered wood floors or tile, it should be just as easy as that. I thought so the same thing about comfortable to walk on and warmer. They had some beautiful samples. Like the maintenance, having it in the kitchen to merge with the rest of the house, and better warranty/durability!

The samples we liked that were like tile, and one like wood was about $6.75 sf installed.

Is this the flooring you're talking about? If so, I've read a few reviews. All said it was very comfortable to walk on, all enjoyed the appearance, but there was concern about putting heavy objects on it, scuffing, and one person talked of holes made by gravel brought in on their doggies' feet.

No. It has the same shape as engineered wood boards and come in 4' x 2' (?) sections tongue and groove. It seems to hold pretty good at the Harley store in LSL. Go to the tile store in LSL. They have some to view. There is no scuffing, and was told holds up to heavy objects. Even water won't damage it. You may be talking about gym floors that look similar that.

You are right, the material I found was soft and not in strips. I couldn't find anything like what you have described. Sounds even more interesting. I've been in the Harley store, alas, Imcan't remember the flooring...;)
Guess I'm going to visit the Harley store and the tile store this weekend.

There's a lot to be said for flooring with some "give"....easier on the joints, that's for sure. Good luck wiith, and enjoy your search!

Nothing like real wood

I would normally agree with you. I like wood too. But this has all the looks of wood. Even to the point of hard to tell the difference, but better durability, cheaper, easier to maintain, and more give. Keeping an open mind about it and want to find out more.

Can it be placed over existing floors?

I don't think so, but you would have to ask. We were considering it in a new installation. since it is like wood or tile, it would be put down the same way.
