After 35 years of working 3rd trick. I was wondering how long did it take you 3rd trickers to get your days and nights back to normal....Everytime I come to TV's I feel sluggish all day and when 9pm comes and the town starts to shut down I am starting to feel good again...Then I am up half the night trying to sleep....Then it starts over again.....

What in the world is a 3rd tricker? Perhaps 3rd shifter? If so, my condolences. Been there, done that. Hated it. Messed me up for a long time. But it all ended well after normalcy returned. Normalcy is sooooo nice!

After only 2 years on the "graveyard" shift, it took me over 2 months to get back to somewhat normal. Now however, with it getting light outside earlier, I find I'm not sleeping as long as I'd like to. I'm just afraid that if I nap in the afternoon it will mess me up again. Everyone is telling me it can take quite a while longer than I think.
While I was working nights, I kept to that schedule even on my days off, which helped me then, but if I took a vacation, it wasn't until the end of it that I slept nights. Some people love the shift, but I certainly wasn't one of them!
Good luck to you.

It appears that sueandskip is/are ex railroad worker/s. "Trick" is a term used by the railroad industry for shift. I don't know where the term came from, but I used to work 3rd trick also. For almost 30 years. I was very fortunate that I could switch my sleep pattern on my days off and vacations. I have always been able to take cat naps during the day and go for hours afterwards.
