Any advice for us newbies/almost Villagers?

I make tons of lists, have been decluttering/selling/donating
STUFF like crazy getting ready for the move to T.V.

But I still feel like maybe there are things I'm not aware of.

Any advice is appreciated! :024:

Get rid of most of you stuff and then some. When you get here don't think you have to make the house and landscape perfect in the first week. Take your time and discover what is really important in your home and lifestyle and all will then fall into place. And if you are buying a new home south of 466A don't hire anyone that knocks on your door.

WeI appreciate the advice also! We have been decluttering . Our home on Tallsman Ct will be complete in July and we are so excited. Had a garage sale this past weekend to continue to lighten the load from Wilmington, NC to TV! Will be coming down in June to check it out then close on the 9th! Hurrah!

You will be shocked at how much "stuff" you really don't need down here. Life is pretty casual here. After living here 1 1/2 yrs I donated my fancy serving dishes, fine china and several dressy dresses because they were just taking up space. I also found I really didn't need all winter clothes that I moved down here. Yes, it can get chilly but a couple of sweaters and sweatshirts are plenty for us.

We moved a lot of furniture here and now only have about 20% of it after a few years. Much of what we moved just didn't fit our new lives. For example, we moved two desks, one with a return. They filled one of the bedrooms. After a while we realized that we just didn't work on desks as much as before retirement, so we sold them and converted the space to a den. If we had it to do over, we would have sold most of our furniture and bought just what we needed here.
