New To Gilchrist

Morning all - I'm soon to become a new Villager in the Village of Gilchrist. I'm scheduled to move on June 5th. I'm a transplanted New Yorker currently living in Orlando. I love Mickey but I need adult conversation so The Villages seems like the perfect place. I can't wait to hit the bricks running and try some activities and make new friends. I hear a lot of neighborhood parties go on in The Villages and that sounds like a great way to meet new folks. See you soon !!!

Welcome to Gilchrist !! We just closed in Gilchrist 214...which section and street will you be moving to? I am originally from New Orleans and my husband is a native Floridian born and raised in Jacksonville. We also enjoy the socializing and parties and cannot wait to permanently move in May 16. I'm in section 218 on Albara Place. We have to plan a hangout at some point. I have two small dogs - a 10 year old Shih Tzu and a 7 month old Cocker Spaniel/Poodle. The Villages seems to be pet friendly.

There is a 'hangout' planned for Friday the 10th at 8pm at Evan Prairie - but we call them a 'Gillybration' around here.

Ah Junction 29 I'd love to but I don't move to Gilchrist until June. June 5th/6th to be more precise. But ..... I'll be at the next one for sure. Thanks for the update. I like the "Gillybration" name.

We also have purchased in Gilchrist - section 210 on Regency. :MOJE_whot: We close on May 22 (by mail). We'll be part-timers for a while - waiting for the hubby to retire. Our next visit will be in June/July, and sure would like to be there for a Gillybration. Are these on a particular day (like the 2nd Friday of the month)? Can't wait to meet our new neighbors!:clap2::clap2:

I will be moving into my new home, section 213 on Ranchwood Terrace, May 24th. I have 2 dogs, a 9 year old 2 1/2 pound Yorkie and a 1 year old Shih Tzu. I am so excited about moving to The Villages, meeting new people and becoming active in as many things as I can. Please keep me posted on future "Gillybrations".

Hello neighbor. I will be moving the week of May 20th to Ranchwood Terrace, section 213. I am moving from Monroe, LA and can't wait to meet my neighbors, especially those from LA. What company did you go with for Cable, Internet and Phone? I have Comcast in LA but have been reading that Comcast service is not that great in Gilchrist. Thanks & hope to meet y'all soon.

I hate Comcast. I lived for a short time in Arizona and they were my service provider and the service was crummy. I went with Brighthouse which I have in Orlando. When you call, they will say they cannot find the address because it's too new but if you persist a supervisor will go into the system and find it. I already know what my new phone number will be and have an appt. date for set up of internet/cable.

Also, there is a much more extensive thread on here that was started last fall by some of the original Gillys. You will want to check it out to get a flavor for the characters in the neighborhood. You will love it here. Feel free to ask questions of your neighbors and those on the thread.
